Monthly News from the President's Palette
After returning from the NAEA National Convention in Boston, I am reminded that for educators, ongoing learning and training is a significant aspect of our profession. FAEA prides itself on the innovative professional development offerings provided to the membership. This summer, we offer an exciting approach to learning with the newly designed Master Series and ArtLab workshops throughout the state. These workshops are one of the many benefits of being a member of FAEA.

Life-long learning goes hand-in-hand with a career in arts education. Learning about new skills, materials, and methods keeps our inspired work fresh and energized. Please visit the Summer Workshops website to find out more about the upcoming opportunities to learn, connect, and create!

Please plan to share your expertise with FAEA by submitting a session proposal for a Workshop Session, Demonstration Session, or an Art Forum for the 2019 Annual FAEA Conference in Ponte Vedra Beach, November 7-10, 2019. You can find more information and complete a proposal online. Submissions will be accepted through April 30, 2019.

At this year's conference, FAEA will present new learning pathways to align session content with the FAEA strategic plan and your school's improvement plan. We are excited about this addition and invite you to read more below.

NEW for 2019: Updated Session Formats
FAEA listened to your feedback and has updated the conference session formats so members can learn more content and gain extra experiences at conference. Now you can take more ideas back to the classroom.
  • Demonstration Session (30 min.) - demonstrate a topic through an exploration and investigation of an art technique that will inform and inspire
  • Art Forum (50 min.) - share a topic through a presentation that will inform and motivate
  • Workshop Session (90 min.) - lead a "hands-on" experience that demonstrates an in-depth art medium strategy or process

NEW for 2019: Learning Pathways
Each session at the 2019 Conference will align with the FAEA strategic plan and will provide strong correlation to your school's improvement plan.

Each session proposal should align with one applicable learning pathway from below:
  • Research & Knowledge: exploring research-based pedagogy, assessment, curriculum connections, educational research, strategies, and historical content and context
  • Learning: discovering and experimenting with new techniques, skills, materials, and technology
  • Community: collaborative learning experiences, panel discussions, special recognitions, connecting with colleagues, and teacher support and retention
  • Advocacy: cultivating support for the arts and for individual programs through exhibition opportunities, voice, volunteerism, leadership opportunities, and addressing equity and access
Session proposals may also be submitted as "Other" for consideration.

Learn more about submitting a proposal to present at conference by visiting our conference session proposal page and our presenter information page.
