Greetings!

Do you know a colleague who would be interested in joining the FAEA community? Now's the perfect time to encourage them to join or renew their membership for the 2025-2026 school year so they can gain access to professional learning events, student opportunities, and resources all year long!

President's Message

Dear FAEA Family,

Welcome to a brand-new school year! There’s nothing quite like the excitement of fresh beginnings, the buzz of creativity, and the energy that fills the air as we welcome our students back to the classroom. Whether you’re setting up your studio, unboxing new supplies, or brainstorming fresh ideas, this is the perfect time to reignite your passion for art education.

As we dive into the year, let’s focus on creating inspiring and inclusive classrooms where every student feels seen, valued, and celebrated. Diversity in our classrooms and the art we teach is essential to fostering creativity and connection. Consider how you can weave stories of underrepresented artists into your curriculum or encourage students to bring their unique perspectives into their work. Representation matters, and the artists and ideas you introduce can leave a lasting impact on your students.

For many of us, this time of year is also about connecting with colleagues. If you have a first-year teacher at your school, take a moment to reach out. Share your expertise, a favorite resource, or even just a friendly word of encouragement. Starting the year with a strong support system can make all the difference, and together we can build a community that lifts each other up.

Looking ahead, the FAEA Annual Conference in October is just around the corner! This is your opportunity to showcase your incredible work and contribute to the professional growth of our community. Whether it’s a favorite project, a tried-and-true lesson plan, or a unique advocacy idea, your voice matters. Sharing your experiences helps strengthen our collective knowledge and inspires others to take new ideas back to their classrooms.

This August, we also have the chance to shape the future of FAEA by voting for our incoming board. You have the power to decide who advocates for you and who will help guide this organization through the next few years. Take the time to learn about the candidates, think about the qualities you value in leadership, and most importantly, cast your vote. This is your chance to have a say while your say counts.

As we embark on this new journey together, let’s remember the incredible impact we have as art educators. Every lesson, every conversation, and every project has the power to shape a student’s perspective and ignite their creativity. What we do matters, and the connections we build within our classrooms and our FAEA family make all the difference.

Thank you for your dedication, passion, and commitment to advancing art education. Together, we are building a community that celebrates creativity, supports each other, and fosters a brighter future for the arts.

Here’s to an inspiring and successful school year!

Together, we are stronger!

Warm regards,

Latonya Hicks
