Diversity in our classrooms and the art we teach is essential to fostering creativity and connection. Consider how you can weave stories of underrepresented artists into your curriculum or encourage students to bring their unique perspectives into their work. For many of us, this time of year is also about connecting with colleagues. If you have a first-year teacher at your school, take a moment to reach out. Share your expertise, a favorite resource, or even just a friendly word of encouragement. Starting the year with a strong support system can make all the difference, and together we can build a community that lifts each other up.
Looking ahead, the FAEA Annual Conference in October is just around the corner! This is your opportunity to showcase your incredible work and contribute to the professional growth of our community. Whether it’s a favorite project, a tried-and-true lesson plan, or a unique advocacy idea, your voice matters. Sharing your experiences helps strengthen our collective knowledge and inspires others to take new ideas back to their classrooms.
This August, we also have the chance to shape the future of FAEA by voting for our incoming board. You have the power to decide who advocates for you and who will help guide this organization through the next few years.
