Greetings art educators! With the new school year quickly approaching, it is time to soak up the last week, days, and minutes of summer. On behalf of the Florida Art Education Association, we hope you had a wonderful summer and are recharged for the upcoming year. The 2017-2018 school year is sure to be one of the best! The FAEA Professional Development Committee, chaired by President-Elect Lark Keeler, is finalizing the annual conference. Plan to join us for the 65th Annual Conference in St. Petersburg and celebrate The Power of Art! Be sure to book your hotel for October 19-22, 2017 in St. Petersburg, Florida. With the amazing keynote speakers, workshops, and celebrations, we are expecting a highly attended conference and hope to see you there! Did you create any new art this summer? If you attended art workshops, made art on your own time, or have recent works to share, plan to participate in the FAEA Member Virtual Exhibition. Submissions for the 2017 Member Virtual Exhibition are being accepted through August 21, 2017. The Florida Art Education Association is currently holding the annual Membership Drive. Our members are vital to the success of FAEA and we are asking for your help to build our member network. The program is simple: FAEA members with the most referrals by September 30th are entered to win! The winner will be announced at conference. The time is upon us for the important task of electing the 2018-2019 Florida Art Education Association Board of Directors. The FAEA Board of Directors governs the organization and ensures the mission is carried out. Please take the time to read the biographies and get to know the candidates. The elected board will be announced at the second General Session of conference. Be sure to vote! Thank you for being an active member of the Florida Art Education Association. We appreciate your support and dedication to arts education. If you have any questions, concerns, suggestions, or need assistance, please reach out to info@faea.org. See you in St. Pete!
