Hello Jasmine,

Welcome back! Do you have a colleague who would be interested in becoming a member of FAEA for the 2024-2025 school year? Encourage them to join or renew their FAEA membership to gain access to FAEA's events, resources, and opportunities this fall and spring!

President's Message

Dear FAEA Members,

As the summer days start to wane, the excitement of a new school year is on the horizon! I hope you are all enjoying the last of the sunny season and are ready to embrace the opportunities this upcoming year will bring.

With the start of the school year finally here, it’s a great time to think about how we can advocate for our beloved art programs. Whether you’re seasoned or new, your voice is crucial in promoting the value of art education. Here are a few actionable suggestions to help you champion art in your school and community:

1. Engage with School Administration: Start the year by setting up a meeting with your school administration. Share your goals for the year, discuss the impact of your art program, and explore ways to integrate art across the curriculum.

2. Involve Parents and Guardians: Host an art night or showcase where students can display their work. This not only highlights the importance of art but also creates a supportive environment for students and their families.

3. Collaborate with Other Departments: Partner with teachers from other subjects to create interdisciplinary projects that incorporate art. This can demonstrate the relevance of art in various contexts and enhance student engagement.

4. Advocate through Social Media: Share your classroom successes, student artwork, and advocacy efforts on social media. Highlighting these achievements can help build a broader community of support for art education.

As we look forward to our exciting events, I encourage you to get involved and make the most of the opportunities to connect with fellow members:

  • FAEA Annual Conference in St. Petersburg: Mark your calendars for October 17-20! This is an exceptional chance to network, learn, and celebrate our shared passion for art education. Don’t miss out on the dynamic sessions, inspiring keynote speakers, and engaging workshops.

  • Member Virtual Exhibition: Showcase your work and see the creative talents of your peers. It’s a wonderful way to celebrate art and connect with the wider FAEA community.

  • Community Mural and Artful Happenings: Join us at the FAEA Conference for collaborative mural painting and explore the Artful Happenings space—a vibrant area designed to spark creativity, community, and conversation.

  • Ignite Magic Market: This newly branded Saturday night event promises a fantastic array of art, crafts, music, dancing, snacks, and so much more. It’s a perfect opportunity to support member artists and find unique pieces.

Your involvement in these events and advocacy efforts make our community thrive. Together, we are stronger, and your contributions play a vital role in shaping the future of art education.

Thank you for your continued dedication and enthusiasm. Let’s make this school year the best one yet!

Warm regards,

Latonya Hicks

FAEA President
