Season Greetings!

What gift are you giving yourself this holiday season?

With the most wonderful time of the year upon us, take a moment and ask yourself, what gift do you most need to receive?   I don’t mean the kind of gift that might be wrapped up with a bow or under a tree.

Through a professional lens, we can visualize what gift might help us to be the best educator for our learners. It could be finding that extra hour of sleep, or it could be taking the opportunity to find renewed inspiration to share with our students. It might be attending professional development to learn a new technique to share with classes or to read a book on integrating a new method of delivery into your lessons. Maybe it is starting a mindfulness practice or daily sketching or journaling. Perhaps visiting some art exhibitions to rekindle and replenish your creative soul is the gift you are needing most this year.

As we move through the ending hustle and bustle of 2018, envision the gift that can help you grow to become an even more inspired, motivated, brilliant, and caring educator. Continually moving, shifting, and evolving into our next best educator-self is the type of gift that will also become a gift for your students. And that kind of gift is priceless.

Youth Art Month

FAEA invites all art educators to participate in Youth Art Month (YAM) activities! YAM is a national arts advocacy program that is celebrated during the month of March, but you can get your students involved now by doing activities that celebrate art education.

YAM Flag Design Competition

Submit your students' designs  for Florida's 2019 Youth Art Month Flag Competition! The winning flag design will represent the state of Florida at the National Art Education Association Conference in March at the YAM Museum. The theme for this year is  Your Art, Your Story . Flag designs should communicate an aspect of Florida's culture, history, and/or geography.

Flag design submissions will be accepted through January 18th, 2019.
