Here are a few suggestions to amplify your summer plans with some color-themed ideas.

Be “Red”
No, not your skin after a long day at the beach! What great books will you be reading to reignite your passions and find some pleasure? Email me if you have “red” something that art educators would love! Here are some great suggestions from The Art of Education

The Orange State
Will you be taking some fun stay-cations around the great state of Florida? Tap into the Florida Association of Museums resource page to find local museums in all of your favorite Florida destinations! Remember to check out the Museum Happenings (p.39) in Fresh Paint to discover other wonderful things happening in cultural institutions around our state.

Mellow Yellow
How can you cultivate calmness this summer and bring it into the next school year? Check out this site to recalibrate your breathing and create a better mind and body connection for creative thinkingClick here for a free, downloadable daily journal to get you started on a mindful summer break.

Go Green
What habits can you change this summer to live a more earth-friendly lifestyle? What types of things can you collect for a fun up-cycling art project in the fall?  Click here to see how to turn some old things into new things!

Rhythm and Blues
Nothing feels more like summer than a great concert under the evening sky. New research from Goldsmith University Associate Lecturer, Patrick Fagan, has just shown that feelings of well-being increased 21% after just 20 minutes of concert participation. You can find more information about the research here . Also, click here for another article about how creativity helps promote well-being.

Purple Rain
We all know that it is the rainy season here in Florida. Without the rain, there would be no flowers. What rainy day art activities do you have planned? The Jealous Art Curator has a great podcast about contemporary artists, and has hosted an awesome “ summer camp ” last year with prompts for art making. Treat yourself like a royal, “born to the purple,” with a day of pampering, listening, and art making.

Have a colorful summer!
