Greetings!
Summer is finally here, and that means FAEA Summer Workshops are just around the corner! FAEA will be hosting five virtual, hands-on workshops for members to learn, create, and share with each other. Our first workshop is with Cassie Stephens on June 18th and is centered on understanding the "why" of what we do and how that informs our teaching. Continue reading to learn more about Cassie's workshop as well as the other four summer workshops. You can register today by visiting the FAEA website.

Welcome, June! A time to break down self-imposed barriers of school and examine your artistic needs with our summer programming. Decompressing from our unusual year and preparing experiences that help produce stronger versions of ourselves is one positive goal as we head into summer. Cassie Stephens presents, Finding Your Why, on June 18th from 10:00am-12:00pm ET. This is a great way to start your professional learning. The 5 SENSES IMMERSIVE ART EXPERIENCES are multisensory professional development opportunities in which all your senses are engaged in artmaking. We have two of these programs prepared for your enlightenment, June 25th, 9:00am-12:30pm ET and July 15th, 10:00am-1:45pm ET. We are also offering Plein Air with Irina Ashcraft on June 22nd and Mixed Media Mapping the Living History of Communities on July 8th. Don’t miss out on these exciting opportunities to network and learn with colleagues around the state. Save the art you make this summer and consider submitting it to our Member Virtual Exhibition.
Summer is also a great time to recognize the high achievement of colleagues, associations, and administrators in the visual arts. The 2021 FAEA Award nominations are now open on our award-winning website until July 5th. Think about how impactful and supportive colleagues have been this past year and nominate them today for recognition.
It’s not too early to begin thinking and planning for our 2021 Annual Conference. We are gearing up for an engaging event at the Caribe Royale in Orlando from October 14th – 17th. Go to our website to download my letter of support for administrators. It is always a good idea to have your proposal ready for review as we enter the new academic year. Session proposals are being reviewed by the Professional Development Committee and confirmation letters will be going out in a couple of weeks. Thank you for stepping up and submitting a proposal, we had over 125 proposals for our conference this year! We are gearing up to reunite, reconnect, and recharge! In closing, I wanted to leave you with an inspirational haiku poem by Brian Strand.
