President's Message

Dear FAEA Family,

May is here, and with it comes the excitement of celebrating the incredible growth of our students. Let’s take a moment to cheer on our 5th and 8th graders, who are ready to soar to the next level, and our upperclassmen, AP, AICE, and IB students, who are finishing strong and making us all proud. Let us also applaud those in higher education standing at the door to a new stage in life. Their successes are a testament to the hard work and dedication you bring to your classrooms every day.

As we approach the final stretch of the school year, remember to take a moment for yourself. Laugh with your colleagues, share a cup of coffee, and reflect on all you’ve accomplished. The next batch of students will be here soon, so let’s make time to refill our cups and recharge.

While we’re celebrating, let’s also look ahead to the opportunities summer brings. Museums and cultural organizations are gearing up for summer camps, and we have an incredible chance to collaborate with them. Together, we can inspire students to stay engaged and creative throughout the summer. If you’re leading or participating in summer programs, don’t forget to share your plans and successes with us—we love seeing the incredible work you’re doing in your communities!

Speaking of opportunities, we’re looking for a Chair or c-Chair for the Editorial Committee! If organization is your superpower, this is the PERFECT role for you. Much like all our leadership roles, this is a team effort. You don’t have to be a writer—the Center for Fine Arts Education, our amazing management company, is there to help keep us on track, maintain timelines, and provide the institutional knowledge that ensures we keep moving forward.

We need someone who’s ready to step in and guide the team—someone like YOU. Don’t wait for the clouds to part or the angels to sing, because sometimes you’ve just got to make your own music. And if you need a song of encouragement, send me an email with your preferred genre, and I’ll sing one just for you!

All jokes aside, YOU are exactly who we need. Your voice, your perspective, and your talents are what make our organization strong. This is your chance to be part of something meaningful, to lead alongside passionate colleagues, and to help shape the future of FAEA.

As we wrap up the school year, let’s celebrate our successes, embrace new challenges, and look forward to the opportunities ahead. Thank you for everything you do to inspire your students and support our community.

Together, we are stronger!

Warm regards,

Latonya Hicks
