Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year! On behalf of FAEA, we hope you had a smooth return, and that this year is looking to be one of the best. As you set up art rooms, studio spaces, and welcome your incoming students, we hope you will utilize all that FAEA has to offer. Please visit the redesigned
FAEA website
for pertinent information and resources.
The Florida Art Education Association is currently holding the annual
Membership Drive
. Remember to renew your membership for 2017-2018 and tell a colleague about FAEA. When your colleagues join or renew, have them use your name as a referral. Membership is open to all art teachers, art supervisors, arts administrators, museum professionals, university professors and students, those who are retired from the profession, and anyone passionate about our goals. The program is simple: FAEA members with the most referrals by September 30th are entered to win! The winner will be announced at conference. With your help, we can make an even larger professional network for members, helping to move visual art education forward in Florida.
The 2017 Annual Conference, October 19-22, 2017 in St. Petersburg is just around the corner. The FAEA Professional Development Committee, chaired by President-Elect Lark Keeler, is working to ensure all the final details are in place. Register today for the
65th Annual Conference in St. Petersburg
and celebrate "The Power of Art!" Be sure to book your hotel soon because we are expecting a large attendance and hotel rooms are filling up quickly.
The Hilton St. Petersburg Bayfront hotel
parking is very limited and carpooling is encouraged. We encourage attendees to visit
www.discoverdowntown.com
for visitor information, parking options, and an interactive map. Don’t forget to start creating the perfect outfit for the Saturday evening gala. The gala is the perfect way to end conference and we look forward to the creative attire representing the gala theme, "What’s your Superpower?" We are planning another outstanding conference with amazing keynote speakers, workshops, and celebrations, and we look forward to your participation.
Congratulations to the 2017 award recipients! Plan to join us Saturday, October 21, 2017 from 7:30 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. and celebrate a deserving colleague. We look forward to honoring the recipients at the 2017 Awards Breakfast.
Be sure to vote!
Now is the time to elect the 2018-2019 Florida Art Education Association Board of Directors. The FAEA Board of Directors governs the organization and ensures the mission is carried out. Please take the time to read the biographies and get to know the candidates. The elected board will be announced at the second General Session of conference.
