Preparticipation Athlete Screening Process: The New FHSAA EL2 PPE
On February 9, 2023, the Florida High School Athletic Association’s (FHSAA) voted to remove the questions regarding female athletes’ menstrual history from the preparticipation sports physical form. The FHSAA’s approval vote also included changes to who receives the PPE form, such that only one page of the form is required to be submitted to the school, while the other pages can be kept with a parent or doctor. This online CME will address the changes to the form, as well as provide latest developments in standard of care for providing preparticipation physicals for student athletes.

What is SIG:

Special Interest Groups are small networking, informal discussion hubs designed to bring together meeting participants with common interest in a particular topic relevant to the practice of family medicine
- SIGs are designed for voluntary participation with the purpose of focusing on a single topic, where participants can discuss, disseminate information, and share ideas about the topic at hand.
What is SIG’s Goal?
- Provide a forum for individuals who have common interest on a specific topic, or who want to be with others and are willing to share their views and best practices, or simply have a free exchange of ideas regarding the topic of focus.

Governor DeSantis Vetoes Health Care Practitioners Legislation |
|
On Friday June 2, Governor DeSantis formally vetoed SB 230, Health Care Practitioner Titles and Abbreviations which was intended to specify which titles and abbreviations healthcare practitioners may use in their advertisements and communications to the public. It also would have required all physicians and healthcare practitioners to wear a nametag with their name and profession during patient encounters unless, the visit was within their own practice. The FAFP's Final 2023 Legislative Summary has been updated to reflect the veto.
