FALA is excited to announce the addition of AmeriCorps and NAU Interns to work with our students and counselors.

Hello Everyone! My name is Shelbi Labat and I will be joining the FALA community as an intern in the school counseling office this semester. I am a masters student in school counseling at NAU, and I am so excited to be working with you all this year! I am from Louisiana and completed my undergraduate degree in English Literature at LSU in Baton Rouge, LA before teaching in the middle school setting for two years. I will be helping with peer mediation and career and college preparedness, and I am happy to meet with any students who need help in preparing for college, getting organized with school work, or who simply need someone to talk to about reducing stress and finding greater happiness in life.

Hello all! My name is Lee and I am the new AmeriCorps member working as a College & Career Advisor. I am excited to work with FALA students and staff this semester, and hope to aid students in preparing for college and life beyond.

Tutoring is Back!
FALA's Grand Canyon Youth Program
FALA's Grand Canyon Youth Program is excited to announce that we are extending the application deadline to our April 6th-9th San Juan trip, to January 15, 2018!

If you would like to participate in this incredible learning and community experience, plan to get an application from Ms. Birdwell when we get back from Winter Break. The application and deposit of $337.50 will be due Jan 15th.

GCY would like to remind the community that financial assistance is available! We are also participating in fundraising and tax credits can be applied to your trip fee! Don't let finances stop you from this amazing opportunity to learn and share on the water!

7th Grade S.H.A.R.E. (Sexual Health and Relationship Education) Program
The 7 th grade course of study at FALA includes 8 classes of the S.H.A.R.E. (Sexual Health and Relationship Education) curriculum. The classes are taught by Rachel Billowitz, MPH, from North Country HealthCare. We have found this curriculum to be very valuable to our students. 7th grade parents/guardians were e-mailed more info and a permission slip. If you did not receive this email, please contact us to get the permission slip, and please check to see if we have the correct email on file. Classes will begin on Feb. 12th in Will Beckett’s Liberal Studies class and March 26th in Nadege Neta’s Liberal Studies class. Students will only be able to participate in S.H.A.R.E. classes if parent/guardian permission is given.

Permission must be granted by Feb. 7th. Rachel will offer a parent meeting on Wed., Jan. 31st from 5:30-7:00 pm in FALA Room 10 . She will discuss the content of the curriculum, and also offer tips to help parents talk with their kids about puberty, sexuality, and relationships. If you plan to attend the program, please RSVP to Gessica Neilson at gneilson@flagarts.com by 1/29. (You may certainly attend even if you do not RSVP.)

Arizona Tax Credit - Charitable Donations
There are many ways to give to FALA!  It is tax credit giving season.  Did you know you can designate your 2017 Tax Credit up to April 15th, 2018!  Please search this AZ Tax Credit Forms and consult accountant for more info! You can also donate to FALA through Charitable Donations since FALA is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.  These donations can go beyond the tax credit limitation.
