Service and Volunteerism are essential to our FALA Community. Our parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins come together to give back. Here is just a couple of examples of family service here at FALA.

Friday February 9th the FALA Volunteer Teacher and Staff Appreciation Team provided an incredible lunch! They took into account all types of dietary needs and made everyone feel special. Thank you Stephanie Kohnen for coordinating such a wonderful meal and thank you to all the volunteers who provided such great food.

A special thank you to Ken and Char Pinkston and Julie Silverman who come in and help get our grade reports signed, sealed and ready for delivery. Thank you for your commitment to FALA.  
Emma Collier Poetry Out Loud AZ State Finalist
FALA Senior, Emma Collier, placed in the top tier during the Poetry Out Loud Regionals and will be going on to the State Finals in March. Poetry Out Loud is a national program that requires students to memorize and recite the work of established and well-known poets. Big congrats to Emma on this accomplishment!
2018 Athena Awards
FALA Board representatives Eli Cohen, Laura Umphrey, Judy Jordan, Heather Pierce and FALA ED Larry Wallen attended Flagstaff Chamber of Commerce Athena Awards! Way to get out there and represent FALA to the Flagstaff Community!   For more than two decades, the Greater Flagstaff Chamber has presented the ATHENA Award to a local businesswoman who has achieved excellence in her field, served the community and assisted other women in the attainment of their goals. The Young Professional Award was added in 2007, and recognized women who are emerging business leaders and clearly serves as a role model for young women both personally and professionally.
FALA Student Council
Candy Grams will be for sale this week in the main building on Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday at lunch. They will be delivered on Wednesday (Valentines Day).  $1 for Card. $2 for Card & Candy. $2 for Card & Rose. $3 for Card & Cupcake. $4 for Card, Candy & Rose. $6 for Card, Cupcake & Rose. *Special Deal: If you purchase a Candy Gram, you can pre-buy a winter formal ticket at a discounted price of $12.

High School Snowball Winter Formal is Saturday, February 24th at the Fieldhouse from 8-11PM. There will be food and drinks provided. Admission is $15.
ASVAB
Don't forget ASVAB Career Exploration Program (CEP) Testing is happening for the first time in a couple weeks for all 10th, 11th, and 12th graders:

Where: ASVAB CEP test proctors and FALA school counselors will be providing testing in the Branigar-Chase room at the Museum of Northern Arizona . 

When: Testing will occur on Tuesday, February 13th at 8:45 AM sharp. Students will need to report to the museum no later than 8:30 AM; staff will be at the testing location at 8:15 AM. 

Additional information: Students should bring their lunch, water, and snacks. They will be given time to eat their lunch, but will miss the opportunity to buy lunch at school. Students will walk back to school after testing with a chaperone to finish out their school day. If for some reason you do not get your student to the museum for the start of testing, please take them to school.
