OCTOBER 24th: Celebrate Operation Snowball
during Red Ribbon Week at PORTILLO"S !!!
(An OS Inc. Board of Director's Fundraiser)
The Board of Director of Operation Snowball Inc. wants you to celebrate Snowball during Red Ribbon Week by coming out to Portillo's on Tuesday October 24th. "The evening is a fun way to celebrate prevention but is also an important fundraiser which the Board of Directors has coordinated", states OS Board Chair Teri Belgio. "It's important to realize the central office of Operation Snowball Inc. coordinates accreditation, provides resources and training to all Chapters, without it there would be no Operation Snowball."

When you place your order show this photo below and 20% of the evening sales goes to Operation Snowball Inc. Two Portillo's locations are participating in this fundraiser: Schaumburg and Naperville. See link and flyer below for times, addresses and details.

Looking for New Discussion Group Activities?
The next time you are searching for new discussion group activities for your Snowball and Snowflake try a google search by specific topic instead of the old standby of 'Team Building' or 'Group Games'. This is 'outside-of-the-box' thinking and can produce new sources of activities. For example: Startempathy.org has a great set of activities that can be used for Snowballs and Snowflake discussion groups.

Tiffany joined the OS Board in September as an IABH appointment to the Board. Tiffany works for the Institute for Human Resources in Pontiac, IL as a Prevention Specialist. She has been the Livingston County Operation Snowball Chapter Leader for the past seven years in which her Chapter has received the OS Outstanding Chapter of the Year Award twice under her charge. She grew up through the Snowball program as a student herself and now, as a Chapter leader, continues to see the positive impact Snowball has on the five school districts in Livingston County. Tiffany has worked diligently to maintain a wide variety of student leaders, build strong relationships with those student leaders as well as with the area schools she serves. The OS Board is thrilled that Tiffany has volunteered to serve as a Board member. Her enthusiasm, creativity, and professionalism will be a great addition to the OS Board.

Dr. Eric Davidson, Director of Eastern Illinois University's (EIU) Health Services Department, was recently honored at the IABH Annual Conference in September for his years of dedication and service in the prevention field. Upon receiving the Prevention Leadership Award Eric told the conference attendees that his participation in Operation Snowball and the Cebrin Goodman Teen Institute as a teen gave him the inspiration to set the course for his career in prevention. Eric, affectionately known by OS/CGTI alum as 'Mav', for his love of the movie Top Gun , has been in the prevention field for over 20 years. Beyond his work at EIU, other local and national college prevention efforts he participates in include: BACCHUS Peer Education Network, American College Health Association Alcohol/Drug Task Force, and the Illinois Suicide Prevention Alliance.
