Giving Thanks!

November is the month set aside for Giving Thanks! I think everyday should be a time set aside for Giving Thanks. We always list our family, friends, clients and good health, but I believe we should add more to the list. The food we eat, the freedom we have living here in America, the shelter we are provided, the ability to read and so much more! I am truly grateful to each of you for the unique qualities and talents that are yours. I am grateful to Leslie Daus for introducing me to WINS over 24 years ago. Who introduced you to WINS? Be sure to thank them for guiding you to this great organization! At the November luncheon, we ask that you say the name of your business and say what you’re thankful for. Elaine P. Litster

Elaine ~ Joined the Simi Valley City Council in February 2019 and was elected to represent District #3 in 2020. She currently chairs the Ventura County Council of Governments, serves on the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Commission, Council on Aging, and Youth Council, and last year was Simi Valley’s Mayor Pro Tem.

Litster is an active community leader, serving on the Simi Valley Education Foundation Board and involved with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She also led the American Harp Society as Board Chair for four years and has a distinguished history of volunteer work with the organization.

Professionally, she co-owns SAFEChecks, specializing in secure check fraud solutions. As a professional harpist, she performs and teaches throughout Southern California, directing the annual Harp Extravaganza for 24 years.

She holds a Master’s in Urban Planning from UCLA and a Bachelor’s in Economics from BYU. Elaine, her husband Greg, and their five children have lived in Simi Valley for over two decades, with three sons achieving Eagle Scout through impactful community projects.

Patricia Taylor

I started my journey as a Safety Educator representing DAMSEL IN DEFENSE 11 years ago, while I was still a driver and Warner Brothers and Universal Studios.

Now retired, I can devote more time to educating people about our products AND how to think and be smarter about our safety, so we can avoid bad situations in the first place.

My late husband and I moved to Simi in 1990. I still enjoy tooling about in the several cars we have owned and spending time with my two great Shelties.

Simi is such a great community and I try to give back in many ways, including being a Volunteer with our Police Department for over 10 years.

WINS is such a great group of women supporting each other and the community, too, and I am proud to be a small part of WINS.

Board Member Spotlight, Jan Sandstrom President of WINS

See The USA in Your Chevrolet….

And that’s just what we did. In 1972 my husband and I purchased our first truck

and camper. We had so much fun planning our vacations and going to different

states. My husband would do the driving and I would do the navigating. This was

before GPS and Google Maps, so I really had to learn how to read our Rand McNally guide. It soon became apparent that we needed a larger truck and

camper so we invested in one with a few more amenities. By the time our kids were 12 and 10 they had seen all but 6 of the states. We toured the White

House, went to Disneyworld, Mt Rushmore, Boston and many other phenomenal

places. These memories are very special to our family!

My love for traveling continues today. The only difference is that now we take our car and stay in hotels. In 2022 we completed our quest to visit all 50 states. Our Country is full of

amazing places to see! All you have to do is go for it!
