Re-Opening March 1st!

Here's a first look at FAM's newest exhibits:
The Smithsonian’s  Hometown Teams  traveling exhibition examines the many roles that sports play in American society. Hometown sports are more than just games—they shape our lives and unite us and celebrate who we are as Americans. No part of American culture so colorfully and passionately celebrates American life as does sports.  Hometown Teams is part of Museum on Main Street, a collaboration between the Smithsonian Institution and the Virginia Foundation of the Humanities.  Support for Museum on Main Street has been provided by the United States Congress. Museums members are invited to a re-opening reception featuring Hometown Teams on February 29th, from 6-8 PM. Not a member? Sign up below! OPEN MARCH-APRIL 2020

The People’s Gallery: Fredericksburg is full of collectors; from match-box cars to sport-memorabilia, Fredericksburg residents have a lot to share! This gallery space is given each year to a local collector to showcase what they collect and why. You’ll be surprised at some of the treasures our neighbors have! This exhibition is on the second floor. This 2020 exhibit is generously sponsored by Dr. John Coker.  OPENING MARCH 1

The Baseball Change-Up!   In many ways, baseball is a symbol of America. Baseball plays a large part in the lives of many people in our community. It leaves an indelible mark on us all, whether we play or watch. The essential qualities of baseball – competition, fair play, and the zeal to win – embody the American spirit. This exhibit is generously sponsored by Germanna Community College and The Fredericksburg Nationals. OPENING APRIL (TBD)

St. George’s: The Church in the Public Square: This exhibit will give voice to the history of St. George’s Parish. In celebration of its 300 th anniversary, we will highlight not only the history, but also the overarching social philosophies that guide the church. This exhibit is generously sponsored by the congregation of St. George’s Episcopal Church.
