FAME STAFF SPOTLIGHT:
Chris Roney
Chris began work at FAME twenty-one years ago as the Deputy General Counsel, coming from private practice in a Portland law firm. He became FAME’s General Counsel in 2007. During his long tenure at FAME, Chris has provided agency staff and the board of directors with exemplary legal advice, which has withstood the test of time, always coupled with his keen business insights, helping to create new products and programs and find solutions to complex financial transactions.
In March, Chris was recognized for his outstanding professional accomplishments with a “2018 In-House Leader” award. In-House Leaders are general counsel and staff attorneys who are nominated by their colleagues, clients and other legal professionals for being leaders in their communities and forward thinkers. The award was presented at a Leaders in the Law event hosted by the Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly, Rhode Island Lawyers Weekly and New England In-House.
Chris is also an active member of his local community of Freeport, where he has been involved in a variety of school, athletic, church and civic organizations, including serving on the board of the Freeport Housing Trust, which provides housing for low-income families. There he has served as president of the board and as a longtime officer and board member.
Chris is a graduate of Villanova University and University of Maine School of Law.
