Mentoring Through the Generations:

14th Annual Medical Education Day Panel with Jean Twenge, PhD


Author and psychologist, Jean Twenge, PhD, will be joining us as a distinguished panelist during the 14th Annual Medical Education Day for an enriching discussion on 'Mentoring Through Generations'. This event is a must-attend for anyone who desires feedback, guidance, and personal growth by cultivating supportive relationships with individuals at various stages in life.


For further insight and a deep dive into the research behind the unique characteristics of today's generations, make sure you do not miss out on her Keynote Address at noon in Hughes Auditorium.

FAME's Education Scholarship Series will feature William Craig McGaghie, PhD for a lecture in which he will critically examine the historical development of clinical medical education, outline the fundamental principles of simulation-based mastery learning (SBML), and evaluate the significance and effectiveness of SBML research data, and demonstrate how to practically apply SBML in clinical education.

July 18 | Cognitive Load Theory to Create PowerPoint Slides that Engage Rather Than Overwhelm - Education Excellence


While PowerPoint is an excellent visual tool for presenting information, its improper use can ultimately detract from your intended message. Fortunately, FAME's monthly workshop series will showcase Amanda Emke, MD, MHPE who will lead a session on optimizing PowerPoint presentations utilizing Cognitive Load Theory. Discover how adjusting the demands on working memory can enhance problem-solving skills and elevate lecture delivery.

Participants are encouraged to bring PowerPoint slides from previous lectures that did not meet expectations. Be ready to reflect on strategies for improvement.

Request for Proposals: Fall 2024 Innovations Pilot Grant

The Fall 2024 Innovations Pilot Grant from Northwestern Simulation enables recipients to create a single, proof of concept physical model or simulator, worth up to $2,000 in resources from the Innovation Lab. These resources are designated for research and training in medical education.
