5 Members of FAME's Education Customer Service Team
FAME’s College Access and Financial Education team couldn’t do what we do without the support of FAME’s amazing Customer Service team. While we are out on the road, these are the people who are available to answer your phone calls, respond to your emails and provide you with the support you need. We’re excited for you to get to know them better and to be able to put a face with their name the next time you call.
Taylor Hersom, Education Programs Officer
Taylor has been part of the FAME team as a Customer Service Associate for almost two years, joining shortly after graduating from Thomas College. Recently, Taylor was promoted to Education Programs Officer where she will be responsible for handling the administration of our state aid programs. Taylor thinks “outside of the box” and seeks ways to improve processes and organize information to best meet our customers' needs. Taylor describes the team as her mini FAME family; a group of people who genuinely share a common goal of helping Maine people achieve their education and financial objectives goals. “As a recent graduate, the challenges of seeking aid to cover the bill, choosing a career path, and now handling repayment on my student loans are fresh. I enjoy utilizing my experiences – my successes and things I would have done differently – to help students and families navigate the process,” says Taylor. When not at work Taylor can be found snuggling her two pups, hanging out at the beach with her family, and enjoying her passion for photography.
Stella Roy, Customer Service Specialist
Stella has been with FAME for 10 years, first from 2001 until 2005, and since 2013 when she rejoined the customer service team. Stella is our Customer Service Specialist handling elevated customer issues, month end data analysis and new associate training. Her attention to detail and development of Standard Operating Procedures makes her a natural trainer for new members of the Customer Service Team. Stella enjoys the support the team provides each other and describes it as “remarkable.” Her favorite part of the job is helping a family file a FAFSA for the first time. “Once I explain the process, the resources available, and the next steps to take, you can tell how relieved they are and feel more confident about the financial aid process,” says Stella. At home Stella enjoys cooking for her family and going out to dinner with friends. Her two young granddaughters are the joy of her life. Stella is also a talented artist whose creativity helps her relax and makes her happy.
Abigail Sowers, Customer Service Associate
Abigail, who is originally from the Midwest, moved to Maine last summer and joined FAME as an AmeriCorps VISTA member. Earlier this summer when her VISTA commitment was wrapping up, we were thrilled that she applied for and was hired as the newest Customer Service Team member. Customers will benefit from her enthusiasm and attention to detail, and her warm and wonderful personality mixes well with our team culture. Abigail is excited to continue at FAME and be part of this team, stating that, “The positive and supportive environment makes every day enjoyable.” Additionally, she loves helping customers find answers to their problems. Outside of the office, Abigail enjoys hiking, has a new found passion for kayaking, and loves spending time with her two dogs and fiancé. We are excited to report that Abigail has no intention of leaving Maine anytime soon!
Rebecca Stickney (Becky), Customer Service Associate
Becky started at FAME as a temporary employee in October of 2015. Her flexibility and work ethic are superlative. Becky arrives early every day so she is ready to greet customers promptly at 8 a.m. When asked what she enjoys most about being part of the FAME Customer Service Team, Becky replied, “This is a true team! Even though we all have our own daily responsibilities, we rally together and help each other out to make sure all tasks get completed.” Becky says she enjoys coming to work every day knowing that she gets to help families and students achieve their educational goals. Outside of work, Rebecca is an avid reader who also loves spending her free time with family, including time spent camping. She also enjoys a variety of sports, particularly hockey, and is a HUGE Bruins fan – Go B’s!
Meagan Woodman, Customer Service Associate
Meagan joined the FAME Customer Service Team just over a year ago. Meagan finds satisfaction in being able to help people better understand student loans when they need to borrow. She brings her empathetic spirit to the customers she serves. She asks extra questions to ensure she understands a caller’s situation so she can provide the best solution for resolving their concerns. She is also excited to share information about their options, including grants available to help pay for college. She is excited that FAME has so much to offer Maine people. When asked about her favorite part of the job, Meagan said, “I love customer service and working hard to make things easier for those who need our help.” Outside of work Meagan enjoys spending quality time with her husband and two (soon to be three!) girls, including family outings at the beach, camping, and visits with extended family.
