Dear Members,
On May 19th, the Manitoba College of Family Physicians (MCFP) is delighted to commemorate World Family Doctor Day and collaborate with WONCA to support their 2023 theme: Family Doctors, The Heart of Healthcare!
Our small but dedicated team at the College has been working tirelessly. We have written countless letters to rally support for Family Doctor Day and showcase your expertise! In response to our request, the Minister of Health has officially declared May 19th as Family Doctor Day in Manitoba! Please find the attached proclamation for your reference.
Family doctors play a crucial role in Canada's healthcare system and are indispensable to the well-being of our communities. They deliver exceptional patient care through clinics, hospitals, and long-term care facilities, while also conducting vital research in family medicine and imparting their knowledge and skills to the next generation of medical practitioners.
Despite the challenges we have faced in recent years, family doctors have demonstrated incredible sacrifice and unwavering dedication to maintaining the health of our communities. We wish to celebrate and acknowledge their efforts, and we invite you to join us in expressing gratitude. You can share this appreciation with your colleagues, your own family doctor, or simply take a moment to acknowledge your own accomplishments.
Stay connected with us on social media as we highlight the significance of family doctors to the public. We have received messages of support from various stakeholders, who truly value your contributions! Please find some stakeholders below. We will continue to share these messages as they come in.
Again, this year we will be sending out gift packages to some rural and remote family doctors, if you are in the city, maybe we will stop by!
Let's come together and recognize Family Doctor Day 2023 with joy and appreciation!
Sincerely,
Dr. Ganesan Abbu, MD, CCFP, FCFP President
