The California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office has released an English Language Learner Healthcare Pathways Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document. The FAQ includes answers to questions about definitions, eligibility, LOI requirements and important deadlines, reporting/NOVA, funding and budget.

The Chancellor's Office has also released a recorded presentation providing an overview of the ELL Healthcare Pathways Grant. The original presentation was delivered by Dean of the Workforce and Economic Development Division, Gary Adams, and Program Lead of Adult Education, Mayra Diaz, both with the California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office.

The deadline to submit the application of Intent to NOVA is Friday, September 8, 2023, by 5:00 pm, which includes the signed Letter of Intent (Appendix A), a project workplan, budget estimate, and signed Letter of Support from employer and partnerships. The FAQ references possible extensions for identified consortia should that be necessary.

Host a Community of Practice: Supporting Student Transition to Postsecondary Education and the Workforce

The California Department of Education (CDE) and the California Adult Literacy Professional Development Project (CALPRO) are pleased to introduce our newest Community of Practice (CoP) on Supporting Student Transitions to Postsecondary Education and the Workforce.

The goal of this community of practice is to support adult learners’ postsecondary and workforce transitions by building consortia and adult education program staff’s capacity to implement evidence-based practices that facilitate the transitions, including identifying ways to enhance support services, program structures, and local partnerships.

This community of practice is designed for teams of adult education staff—including consortia directors, program administrators, instructional leaders, and counseling/student service staff—who are responsible for building partnerships for career and academic pathways and implementing initiatives for successful postsecondary and workforce transitions. The goal is to support consortia and programs to implement the strategies learned in their postsecondary and workforce transition efforts.

If you are interested in hosting this CALPRO CoP for your consortium/region, please contact [email protected]
