Even with that understanding, we recognize the era we are in is unprecedented and challenging for all of us. We hope the resources below will help you maintain a strong sense of belonging, connection, and passion as you navigate a virtual fraternity and sorority experience.

FASA Accreditation Program Information
Academics

The chapter develops and maintains a scholarship program for its members that promotes success, growth, and academic success. The chapter also instills a commitment to learning outside the classroom to increase awareness in current affairs in other areas. Scholarship will reinforce the scholastic principles of fraternities and sororities and connect the chapter’s values and purpose to the academic mission of Syracuse University.

The chapter must maintain academic baseline requirements for the positions of:
  • President
  • Vice President
  • Treasurer
  • Recruitment
  • New Member Educator
  • Standards/Judicial

For the 2021 - 2022 academic year, all presidents and officers are required to achieve a 2.5 GPA.

All officers are expected to remain in conduct standing with the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities. The President must remain a fulltime student for the duration of their term. Students who will not be fulltime students based on extenuating circumstances must appeal to the Assistant Dean of Fraternity and Sorority Affairs.
The chapter is responsible for ensuring that they have a developed and implemented academic scholarship program in place.
FASA End of the Year Survey
As we begin to wrap up the Spring semester, FASA will be sending out an End of the Year Survey to capture your experiences for this 2020-2021 academic year. Collecting this information allows FASA to understand your fraternity/sorority experience to improve and develop programs/initiatives that help to positively impact the fraternity and sorority community.

What have we done with the information you have provided in the past:
  • Developed Mental Health Programs (Wellness Wednesdays)
  • Getting feedback from Chapter leadership for the DPS Chief Search
  • Made changes to the FASA Chapter Coach Model to align with the needs of the Chapter Leaders

Survey will be sent out Tuesday, April 13th, 2021 for the entire fraternity and sorority community (Active members, new members/neophytes, graduating seniors, and chapter advisors)
Requirements for Potential New Members & Interests
Starting Fall 2020 all potential new members and interests of a fraternity or sorority must attend all three workshops below before they begin the recruitment/intake process. All workshops are coordinated through the Barnes Center at The Arch Health Promotion.

Alcohol Safety 101
Participants will learn about general information on alcohol use, a variety of strategies for safer alcohol use and how to recognize and respond to alcohol poisoning. Workshop provided by Be Wise Peer Educators.

STOP Bias
This workshop will discuss what bias is and provide real-life, relatable examples (recognize), as well as bystander intervention skills (stop). We will also discuss how to report and what the process looks like after you've done so (report). Workshop provided by the STOP Bias Program.

Hazing Prevention
In this presentation you will learn about what hazing is using an affirmative consent framework and how it can impact your social connections and mental health. Review how to recognize hazing and act as a prosocial bystander to intervene safely and help your peers that are experiencing hazing. This is an interactive session where you will practice scenarios and hear from other peers to help better equip you in responding if you see hazing among your friends and peers.
