Calling on Our Outstanding Alums
Dear Alumni: It warmed our hearts to see the outpouring of responses that came from our alumni students last month in response to our call for assistance to families in our community during this unprecedented time. We are deeply grateful that our community can count on you to help them weather this global crisis. Governor Inslee's mandate to keep schools closed for the rest of the academic year has magnified the continued need for assistance with keeping children actively engaged and learning throughout the day, and we are still looking for people to contribute their services, paid or unpaid.
Please refer to this list for an idea of what you can offer. Get creative and use this time as an opportunity to exercise your myriad talents! Tutoring, story time, conversation, drawing classes, music lessons, you name it. Feel free to tag us and post photos of your sessions on our Facebook or Instagram pages so our community sees the great ways in which you are helping.
You Set the Terms: If this is something you have the time and the desire to do, let us know which services you can provide, the days and times you’re available, contact information, etc., and we’ll post your offer to our private community resource board (not accessible by the public) (if you offer a paid service, your rate is something you'll discuss in any one-on-one communications with parents). Please email if you're interested or have any questions. Note: Childcare would, obviously, have to be in person, but there's no reason tutoring, French conversation, and many other types of assistance couldn't happen virtually.
FASPS Class of 2020, We Salute You!
Our graduating class of 2020 has been admitted to the excellent local, national, and international high schools listed below. We are incredibly proud of the intelligent and determined individuals they have become, how hard they have worked over the years, and how brave they must be at this time, faced with the unexpected revisions of so many significant moments and events that take place during the last year at FASPS.
Distance Learning and Virtual Graduations
If you were set to graduate from high school, college, or university this spring, what kind of alternative graduation ceremony is your school planning? How do you feel about it? What does distance learning look like for you? We'd love to hear your stories and see pictures of what life looks like for you these days. It means a lot to us to stay connected with you, especially during this challenging time. Share your pictures and stories with, and we will post them in our next newsletter (with your permission) or on social media. Merci !
