An Evening of Talent and Memories
Started 2020 Off Right
January's Talent Show and Retrospective was a wonderful way to kick off our 25th anniversary year! During the Talent Show portion of the evening, MCs Benjamin Mousseau, Class of 2016, and Emma Thuau, Class of 2015, entertained us in between the different acts with their witty repartee. The acts performed ranged from vocals to dance routines to a fierce Tae Kwon Do demonstration. Several students showed impressive piano skills, including Anderson Bull, Class of 2019. The subsequent reception included speeches by Eric Thuau, Head of School, Steve Dispensa, Board President, Laura Mousseau, Alumni Parent and Immediate Past Board Chair, Benson Wong, Mayor of Mercer Island, and Stacia Smith, Alumni Parent. Béatrice Coppens, Teacher and Art Coordinator Extraordinaire, organized a gorgeous collection of student art, and a substantial photo display featured hundreds of moments from the past 25 years. Thank you to all who participated. We look forward to more wonderful anniversary events this year!
In Remembrance of Maureen Elwood
Alumni Parent Maureen Elwood passed away a few months ago after a brave struggle with cancer. Maureen, mother of Jayne Elwood, Class of 2014, was a deeply caring and generous member of the FASPS community. She spent hours designing and sewing costumes f or the annual spring performances, volunteering for drop-off, class trips, gala projects and in the library. Jayne lovingly remarks: " She was the life of the party, the light of the room, the epitome of love." We send our love and condolences to the Elwood family and all who knew Maureen.

What Does Cultural Agility Mean to You?
As you know, Cultural Agility is one of our core values, along with Excellence, Integrity, and Community. This year we are asking our community (students, parents, alumni, faculty and staff, trustees, etc.) to tell us how you understand Cultural Agility and, if you're able, to share personal anecdotes that bring to light the importance of being culturally agile in a hyper-connected world. Click here to read FASPS alum Maddie Mousseau's October 3, 2019, blog post titled, "The Politics of Language in a Former Colony." If you would like to share your thoughts with FASPS, please email KyleL@FASPS.org. Thank you!
