We Have Exciting News to Share About a Permanent Home for FASPS!
June 8, 2022

Dear FASPS Alumni Community,

We have exciting news we are eager to share with everyone. As you know, and for those who did not know, we have been actively working to secure a permanent home for our school and for our community for approximately 10 years. In 2011–2012, we created a reserve fund for future capital outlays. Between 2013 and 2017, we purchased 2½ acres of land near our current location on Mercer Island. In June of 2015, our Board of Trustees approved a vision for FASPS that includes the potential launch of a bilingual, French-American high school. Our 2016–2021 Strategic Plan includes as one of its four pillars finalizing a Campus Master Plan, which itself includes identifying and exploring potential real estate lease and purchase options. Securing our permanent home has been central to our strategic planning for more than a decade, with several committees and task forces actively engaged to realize our vision.

With all of this in mind, we are thrilled to announce that we are in the process of purchasing a 51,016-square-foot (4,740-square-meter) property in Seattle (2203 23rd Ave S, Seattle, WA 98144) just six miles west of our current location on Mercer Island that will allow us to build a new, highly sustainable campus, including classroom buildings, a gymnasium, a cafeteria, plenty of outdoor space for our students, administrative offices, and other critical amenities. This property is listed for (and has been valued at) $13.5 million, and our intent is to close on its purchase by September 28, 2022. We are fortunate to have assembled a superlative team of individuals and organizations both internal and external to FASPS that will continue to lead us through the development and construction phases and processes, including Spectrum Development Solutions, Mahlum Architects, and others, and, ultimately, we are thrilled to be able to share with everyone that we are, at last, on the cusp of being able to control our school’s destiny and realize our full potential.

This is incredibly exciting news for the future of our school and of our community, and we hope that you join us in our excitement! If you would like to participate in one of the many Listening & Learning focus groups Mahlum Architects is scheduling with all of our different community members (current students, faculty, staff, parents, and alumni students and parents), please click here to give Mahlum a general idea of when you might be available.

Thank you, and I wish everyone a sunny and reinvigorating summer!
