Dear Parents,

I hope this email finds you well and enjoying the (so far understated) start of fall. It has been heartwarming to see our community’s excitement this month as we continue to rediscover joys and freedoms we haven’t experienced since the start of the pandemic.

Autumn is typically associated with endings, with the end of summer, the end of the growing season, the end of long days filled with sunlight and warmth. Obversely, autumn 2022 will forever be remembered at FASPS as a time of new beginnings, of fresh starts, one might even say our own Renaissance. At 5:00pm on Wednesday (September 28), FASPS officially took possession of our new home at 2203 23rd Ave S in Seattle when the property’s (now previous) facilities manager handed over the keys to Victoria (see photos below). My apologies for not sharing this momentous news with everyone sooner; we have seen a whirlwind of activity these past few days, including a visit by the CEO of the Mission laïque française this afternoon.

For my part, autumn 2022, and more specifically September 28, 2022, will remain forever one of the proudest moments of both my professional and my personal life — but that said, I hope we will soon see this week topped the day we break ground on construction of our new campus! Please note that we will continue to involve our entire community in our new campus’s eventual and ultimate design, with further details shared at our community event on October 25.

Please save 6:00–8:00pm (see below for RSVP and calendar links) on Tuesday, October 25, for a special in-person (and online) community event at the SJCC where we will present our 2022–2027 Strategic Plan and give an update on our Permanent Home Project and what this year and the next few years will look like. We will serve light hors d’oeuvres and make a toast to how far we’ve come as a school and a community and how far we will continue to go in realizing our full potential.

Thank you again so very much for everything you do for our beloved school and our unique community. I look forward to celebrating with everyone this any many more successes in the coming months and years.

Warmly,

Eric Thuau

Head of School
