Florida's Cities Will Receive Direct Federal COVID-19 Funding Relief
Yesterday, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the American Rescue Plan COVID-19 relief package, providing direct aid to all 411 of Florida’s municipal governments.
This Rescue Plan will next go to President Biden for his signature. We are excited that every single Florida municipality will receive assistance and the big difference this funding will make in the fiscal condition of every city, town and village. Never before has Congress provided money to every municipality.

This unprecedented aid will help Florida’s communities, especially our small and rural ones, recover and rebuild from the devastation caused by COVID-19. This funding will help cities protect front line workers and help residents and businesses recover from the pandemic.

We encourage you to read FLC’s statements from President Ortiz and FAST Chair Greg Ross on the passage of the American Rescue Plan.
We thank our national partners at the National League of Cities for the countless hours they spent advocating for this assistance. We are very fortunate to have a former Florida municipal official in NLC CEO Clarence Anthony leading that organization. The communication and support we receive from Clarence and his team has been incredible.

We thank our congressional delegation who voted in support. Our FAST Chair Greg Ross was a tremendous champion of this cause and his efforts are greatly appreciated. We also thank you, our members, for your tremendous efforts in supporting this rescue plan. Your virtual meetings, phone calls, emails and social media campaigns all helped push this assistance over the finish line.

The League will soon be announcing additional resources to support your efforts in implementing the American Rescue Plan in your communities.
