Pope St. John Paul II insisted that, "Fatima is more important now than in 1917," and in Portugal in May of 2010, Pope Benedict XVI said it's a mistake to think the prophetic message of Fatima is over.
In 1917, the Blessed Mother appeared to three shepherd children at Fátima, Portugal. The three children were Lúcia Santos (later known as Sister Lúcia of Fátima) and her cousins Jacinta and Francisco Marto.
So central is the Rosary to the Fatima message that Our Lady chose to identify herself as "The Lady of the Rosary." As she revealed in the third apparition: "I want you to come back here on the thirteenth of next month. Continue to say the Rosary every day in honor of Our Lady of the Rosary, to obtain the peace of the world and the end of the war, because only she can obtain it."
