Florida Atlantic University's (FAU) new Ecology, Environment, & Resilience Initiative, housed in the Charles E. Schmidt College of Science, unifies the transdisciplinary efforts of a vibrant and growing community of FAU scholar-educators in Environmental Science (ES). This coordinated group of environmental faculty and students spans multiple FAU departments, centers, institutes, and colleges, who align for stronger education and research efforts and opportunities related to environmental science, coastal resilience, and climate change.

By virtue of its location in South Florida, FAU offers tremendous professional and educational opportunities in environmental science. Our six linked campuses are located within minutes of the Everglades and a host of major freshwater ecosystem restoration and water quality monitoring efforts, the Atlantic Ocean, and a low-lying metropolis grappling with the twinned challenges posed by burgeoning population growth and sea-level rise.
