Estate Planning in the Time of Covid

During this pandemic, the virus has affected all aspects of life,
including estate planning and charitable giving. As an estate attorney, I have not observed a decrease in the demand for estate planning services. Perhaps due to an increased concern of falling ill, which, in turn, has caused individuals to consider "getting their legal affairs in order." Admittedly, the execution of estate planning documentation initially proved difficult due to working remotely; however, the use of technology has become increasingly helpful in resolving that challenge.

Fortunately, York Countians, despite all they face, continue to be charitably inclined. The demand for estate planning then continues to benefit our local charities, whether being named under wills, trusts or beneficiary designated assets, such as life insurance or retirement accounts. Observing our clients' continued support of local charities through planned giving, even in the face of tremendous adversity, has been an uplifting experience for me, both professionally and personally.
