Worship Video for
Sunday, January 1
|
|
This Sunday, January 8, our worship service will include a confluence of ordinances of our faith: Holy Communion and Deacon Ordination. Ashley Wilkie will be affirmed and ordained to her sacred call as a deacon at First Baptist, and the congregation will be invited to participate in the laying on of hands. Additionally, George Coleman, Vaughan Free, Alice Gilchrist, Nick Nichols, and Kenny Poston will be installed as deacons. Please pray for these gifted leaders as they seek God's guidance in their call to serve.
We will also gather around the Lord's table to share the bread and the cup in rememberance of Christ's sacrifice for us. Rev. Anna Burch will offer the spoken meditation, "Following the Star." Join us as we celebrate, affirm, remember, and worship together this Sunday.

Building Blocks Study Options
Resume This Wednesday,
January 11
A new series of Building Blocks study options will begin on Wednesday, January 11 and last for six weeks. The new series features three new and exciting options.
BLOCK ONE: The Way of Christian Mysticism: This study explores the simple pathways of mysticism—awareness, contemplation, compassion, suffering, discovery, transformation, and openness. This group will be led by Dr. Bill Harris in the Maulin Classroom (Room 208).
BLOCK TWO: Lesser Known Bible Characters: This study explores the stories of some of the people who are often overlooked when studying the scriptures. This group will be led by Mary Frances Thompson in the Trinity Classroom (Room 211).
BLOCK THREE: Money Solutions from Grandma: The Growing on Grace Street group will host this study which examines some of the money management principles taught by Dave Ramsey in his best selling book The Total Money Makeover. The focus will be on sound ways to track monthly expenses and get out of debt. This group will be led by Dr. David Jennings in the Carpenter Classroom (Room 10).

Kitchen Damage Necessitates
Wednesday Night
Meal Changes
Beginning This Wednesday
Because of some recent damage to the kitchen caused by the unusually cold weather, this area and its appliances will be unavailable for the foreseeable future. This means we will need to postpone the resumption of prepared meals on Wednesdays. However, the fellowship hall will be available beginning at 5:45 pm each Wednesday for "BYOM." Those wishing to share food and fellowship around the tables are encouraged to bring a meal (including a drink) and enjoy time with one another prior to evening activities.
