May 2016
Greetings from Pastor Jeff

As I sit here writing this article, I am amazed at how fast a month seems to fly by. Ever notice that? It seems the older I get, the faster the calendar moves. I say this because as we mature in Christ and learn His Word, it is a reminder that we have no time to waste; we must be about doing His business and bringing Him Glory in all that we do. I have a quote posted next to my desk that says, "Only one life, twill soon will be past, only what's done for Christ will last". Too often we focus on what we think are the 'BIG' things (becoming a missionary, a pastor, mission trips, big church events, etc.) and forget about the opportunities we have to glorify Him in our day-to-day lives.
Matt. 6:19-21 speaks of storing up treasure here on earth verses storing them up in Heaven. The words 'store' and 'treasure' in Greek are the same word and have their root in the word "tithe". The concept is making many small deposits - like saving up for your retirement in a 401k. We normally don't deposit a one-time huge payment and were done.  No, we build up for our future through many small deposits over a life. That is what serving God should be like, many small deposits our whole lives.
When building up a 401k, we take steps to ensure we save, and one way is through a direct deposit. We should do the same in our Christian lives. One way to ensure these deposits take place is 1+1+1=Growth (each week attend 1 Church Service + 1 Bible Study + serve in 1 Ministry = Personal Spiritual growth). This is how to develop and store up treasures in Heaven.

New Building Update:

AWESOME NEWS!   We are pressing ahead with the purchase of a new 4000 sq ft facility that we will turn into 1st Baptist Community Outreach Center (clothing ministry, food ministry, Friday/Sat evening recovery services, soup kitchen, and fellowship). The goal is to turn it into a ministry center that will have a great kitchen and showers to help facilitate the many things we do already and are being led to do. Please pray God's blessing and that we will raise the needed funds. June 12th, after morning service, we are having a church meeting to discuss the project in more detail.
