Dedication of Reese Career and Technical Education
Fort Bend ISD held a dedication ceremony on Sunday, Oct., 27 to officially mark the opening of the new James Reese Career and Technical Education Center. FBISD students, staff and community members attended the event to celebrate the life of the center's namesake and tour the state-of-the art facility. FORT BEND ISD TRUSTEES RECOGNIZE LEED-CERTIFIED CAMPUSES AND APPROVE CAMPUS REBUILD
FBISD School Board approves schematic design of the Lakeview Elementary rebuild

During the October 21, 2019 Regular Meeting, the Fort Bend ISD Board of Trustees approved the schematic design for the Lakeview Elementary School rebuild, as presented by Kirksey Architects. In November 2018, the Board approved Kirksey Architects to prepare construction documents and specifications for the design of the rebuild, which included approval of a project budget of $33,903,645. Thornton Middle School and Leonetti Elementary deemed LEED-certified campuses

Congratulations to Ronald Thornton Middle School and Leonetti Elementary on being deemed LEED-certified buildings based on their energy-efficient designs. Principals Jeanna Sniffin of Thornton, and Joy Schwinger of Leonetti, along with District representatives, were recognized at the October 21 FBISD Board meeting and presented with certificates. FBISD Risk Management Director to serve on TASB Board of Directors
Bridget Chustz-Morrison, Fort Bend ISD Director of Risk Management, has been appointed to the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) Risk Management Fund Board of Trustees. She will join her fellow board members in drafting policy and coordinating strategic planning to carry out the Fund’s mission.
FBISD high school marching bands earn top ratings at 2019 UIL Region Marching Contest
Bravo to the FBISD high school marching bands on their recent performances at the 2019 5A-6A University Interscholastic League (UIL) Region Marching Contest. All 11 high school marching bands performed their 2019 competition shows, earning a rating of either Superior or Excellent.
Palmer Elementary students join H-E-B Buddy League in taking stand against bullying
Second-grade students at Palmer Elementary are taking a stand against bullying by becoming members of the H-E-B Buddy League. The H-E-B Buddy League promotes diversity and inclusion by inspiring kindness and respect over negative behavior, such as teasing and bullying.

Men's Choir Festival, Nov. 7
Don't miss the opportunity to hear the FBISD Men's Choir perform in concert at Dulles High School's Rodgers Auditorium (550 Dulles Ave., Sugar Land, 77478), Thurs., Nov. 7 at 7 p.m. The festival will feature the men's choirs from all 26 FBISD secondary schools and the University of Houston ManCorps. Admission is free.
Interfaith Leaders Breakfast, Nov. 14
Leaders and staff members of area interfaith organizations are invited to attend an upcoming Interfaith Leaders Breakfast, hosted by FBISD’s Collaborative Communities Department and Loving Houston. The November topic is “Serve Families" and will provide participants with resources to support English learners and students receiving free-and-reduced meal services. LEARN MORE

Fort Bend ISD’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) is giving parents and students an opportunity to learn about CTE programs during its annual Program Exploration Night.
