The 2019-20 school year has certainly been like no other, and one we will not soon forget. As a result of our schools and offices being closed for normal business due to the Coronavirus, we introduced online learning, held outdoor graduations and took part in hundreds of ZOOM meetings. Fort Bend ISD knows there is a lot of uncertainty as we plan ahead toward the 2020-21 school year, and we remain committed to keeping our community informed about our efforts to support students and staff in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
On Wednesday, July 1, 2020, Fort Bend ISD will hold a special LIVE event with Superintendent of Schools Dr. Charles Dupre at 7 p.m. In this Checking in with Charles LIVE event, Dr. Dupre and Deputy Superintendent Diana Sayavedra will share a brief update on the planning underway, and will address common questions that have been asked about the upcoming year. Fort Bend ISD Reimagined: 2020-21 Planning Update #3
As promised, I am writing to provide a timely update regarding planning for next school year. The Texas Education Agency (TEA) provided important guidance today about how they will fund online instruction – both synchronous and asynchronous. In short, they have committed to funding online learning when teachers engage students in real-time online and when students use technology resources to do work on their own time. Upcoming meeting of the Board of Trustees

Application deadline for FBISD Leadership 101 Program is July 6
Incoming FBISD 11th grade students interested in leadership development during their junior and senior years of high school are invited to apply for the FBISD 2020-21 Leadership 101 program. LEARN MORE
Shaughn Thomas wins national teacher award
Shaughn Thomas, the District’s 2018 Secondary Teacher of the Year and a Master math teacher at Missouri City Middle School, has been named the Texas state winner for the 2020 Sanford Teacher Award, receiving a $10,000 cash prize. He, along with the other state and D.C. finalists, will now be considered for the $50,000 national grand prize. LEARN MORE
Sullivan Elementary named top FBISD fundraising school in Pennies for Patients Program
Congratulations to the students, staff and community of Sullivan Elementary for being recognized by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society as the Number 1 Fort Bend ISD school to take part in this year’s Pennies for Patients Program. The Sullivan Elementary community raised more than $5,617 to support blood cancer patients. LEARN MORE
Food distributions continue through summer
Fort Bend ISD’s free Grab & Go Meals continue being served throughout the District.
Also, the District's Collaborative Communities Department continues its partnership with the Houston Food Bank to provide food items and toiletries to families throughout the community.

Since its inception, the Fort Bend Education Foundation (FBEF) has awarded nearly $36 million in grants to FBISD teachers and schools. Thanks to the Foundation's remarkable fundraising efforts, FBISD schools will benefits from $601,510 in Foundation grants next school year.
