FBISD Board of Trustees to hold virtual June 8 meeting
T he Fort Bend ISD Board of Trustees will hold its Called Meeting and Agenda Review on Mon., June 8 at 6 p.m. The meeting will be held in virtual format, and all community members who wish to listen live to the meeting can do so at   www.fortbendisd.com/june8meeting . Community members who wish to address the Board during the Audience Items portion of the meeting are to follow the normal procedures and complete the  Request to Address the FBISD Board of Trustee - Agenda Review Workshop ”  form available on the FBISD website. Please submit your request via the online form by 4:30 p.m. on the day of the meeting so staff can confirm receipt of the request and provide you with the telephone number to participate in the meeting.  View the meeting agenda .

We invite you to share your experience and opinions with online learning and potential learning models to start the school year, and modified calendar considerations for the 2020-21 school year. Participants may also opt-in for opportunities to participate in future feedback meetings with key district leadership. FBISD TO OFFER 2020 ENGLISH LEARNER SUMMER SCHOOL PROGRAM ONLINE
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Fort Bend ISD is offering its English Learner Summer School Program for rising kindergarten and rising 1st grade students online this year. Online registration for eligible students is currently open and will close on Mon., June 15. The program is free to all participating students. Fort Bend ISD students named 2020 College-sponsored National Merit Scholarship winners 
Ten Fort Bend ISD graduating seniors have been named 2020 College-sponsored National Merit Scholarship winners, as recently announced by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC). The FBISD scholars represent the more than 3,300 winners of scholarships financed by U.S. colleges and universities. They are a part of the distinguished group of about 7,600 high school seniors who will receive National Merit Scholarships for college undergraduate study worth over $30 million. READ MORE
FBISD visual art students have successful year after receiving regional, state and national honors 
This spring, several Fort Bend ISD high school visual art students received numerous awards and recognition in regional, state, and national art competitions. From the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo School Art Contest to the National Scholastic Arts and Writing Awards Program, our students outshined the rest, earning top awards for their entries. Kempner High School receives 2020 Bestie Award
In honor of its dedication to promoting inclusion for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities, The Kempner High School Best Buddies Chapter was recognized during the virtual 2020 Best Buddies in Texas Chapter Awards Ceremony. During the event, student advisory board members were recognized and chapters received “The Besties” awards in 10 different categories. Kempner received the 2020 Comeback Kid award and Alexis Herrera was honored among finalists for the 2020 Chapter President of the Year. READ MORE
Fort Bend ISD teachers announced winners in 2020 SHABE Teacher of the Award Program
Fort Bend ISD educators were among those honored during the 2020 SHABE (Suburban Houston Association of Bilingual Educators) Teacher of the Year Award announcement. Among our District honorees, four were named overall winners in their categories:
  • Gabriela Acosta of Ridgemont Early Literacy Center, Bilingual Teacher of the Year-Second Runner Up 
  • Myla Razon of Colony Meadows Elementary, Elementary ESL Teacher of Year-First Runner Up
  • Catherine Inoma of Missouri City Middle School, Secondary ESL Teacher of the Year-Second Runner Up
  • Isabel Hill of Ridge Point High School, Foreign Language Teacher of the Year-First Runner Up
