The November 7 election, known as a Voter Approval Tax Rate Election or VATRE, will provide $35 million for the district to afford competitive wages for FBISD teachers.
By law, funds provided by the district’s successful bond election in May cannot be used to pay teachers or other staff salaries, such as bus drivers, librarians, nurses and counselors.

Travis High School CCR advisor surprised with October Impact Award
Travis High School’s College and Career Readiness Advisor Becky Martinez is this month’s recipient of the district’s Impact Award for her “infectious positive attitude and unmatched work ethic.”
Martinez was nominated by Travis High School AP Damien Bassett, who refers to her as the “campus mom” and every kids’ favorite.
“In my 22 years of education, I have never met a person so willing to jump in and assist with any situation, any project, any task the way she does,” Bassett said.
In addition to helping students prepare for life after graduation, students look to her for advice about other aspects of their life.
She can be seen cheering on students at almost every athletic event and festively dresses up on every spirit day. She leads one of the most popular student organizations at Travis High School, Ambush, where juniors and seniors mentor younger students and help set the campus’ climate and culture.

Fort Bend ISD's Shared Dreams anniversary celebration to be held November 8
It is time to celebrate! Shared Dreams' 35th anniversary will be held at 1555 Independence Blvd., Missouri City, 77489 (at the facility located next to Progressive High School). The event's program will include remarks from district leadership, student performances, a tour of the new facility and light refreshments courtesy of HEB.
What is Shared Dreams?
Shared Dreams was created in 1988 to provide basic everyday items to Fort Bend ISD students – provisions that help remove barriers and enable children and their families to have a less stressful school experience.
Some people are surprised to learn about the amount of need in Fort Bend ISD. The district has 80,000 students, and 52 percent are economically disadvantaged. Almost 1,000 are homeless. FBISD's Shared Dreams has provided our students and families with basic needs for 35 years.
