FBISD's School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) is seeking new Parent Members!
The SHAC assists the FBISD administration and the Board of Trustees to ensure local community values are reflected in our district’s health education programs. SHAC helps implement a comprehensive school health program including health instruction, physical education, health services, nutrition, school counseling, healthy school environments, health promotion for staff, and integrated school and community programs.
Through SHAC, parents have the opportunity to work with community members and school staff to help create healthy learning environments for our children and improve the health of all students, staff and families. With sub-committees like Health Services & Safety, Nutrition, Physical Education & Activity, Social Emotional Learning and Advocacy, SHAC members provide valuable input to the FBISD Board and district administration on health and wellness related issues. Members also help with the selection of educational materials and resources used to provide health education. They also provide recommendations regarding improvements to health and wellness policies and practices.
