District closed for Good Friday, April 14

All Fort Bend ISD schools and offices will be closed on Friday, April 14 for the Good Friday holiday. The District will reopen, and all students will return to class, on Monday, April 17.

FBEF hosts Spring Luncheon
 
The Fort Bend Education Foundation Angels of Education Auxiliary is hosting a Spring Luncheon on Tuesday, April 27 and the community is invited to attend to learn more about the Education Foundation and volunteer opportunities.
Join FBISD at the Ballpark
 
Enjoy a day at the ballpark while supporting the Fort Bend Education Foundation. Fort Bend ISD Day at the Ballpark is April 29, beginning at 6:10 p.m. The Houston Astros will be hosting the Oakland Atheletics. FBISD is a Best Community for Music Education

Fort Bend ISD has been honored with the 2017 Best Communities for Music Education designation, presented by the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation, for its outstanding commitment to music education. This is the eighth consecutive year that FBISD has earned the title, being among only four percent of districts across the nation to receive the prestigious award in 2017.

District to make history as first in Texas to issue "Green Bonds" for capital projects 
 
Fort Bend ISD will make history by becoming the first in Texas to issue Green Bonds, which will finance the environmentally-sustainable construction of three new elementary schools.The District plans to issue a total of $99 million tax-exempt bonds in April 2017, and approximately $52 million of the bonds will be designated as Green Bonds, part of a $484 million bond package approved by the District's voters in 2014.

Pete Yackus is Social Studies Supervisor of the Year

The Texas Social Studies Supervisors Association (TSSSA) has honored Fort Bend ISD Elementary Social Studies Coordinator, Pete Yackus, with the 2017 Rosemary Morrow Social Studies Supervisor of the Year state award. The prestigious award recognizes current TSSSA members who exemplify the leadership role of a social studies supervisor.
Fort Bend ISD announces 2017 Jason Argonauts

A team of Fort Bend ISD Curriculum and Instruction staff formed a "Prize Patrol" and made their way to two FBISD middle schools to surprise one teacher and one student with the news of their acceptance into the 2017 Jason Argonaut program. Honored as the 2017 FBISD Jason Educator Argonaut is Michael Harvey, a sixth-grade science teacher at First Colony Middle School; and recognized as the 2017 FBISD Jason Student Argonaut is Noor Mohamed-Salinas, an eighth-grade student at Bowie Middle School.
Winners named in Annual FBISD Film Fest

Fort Bend ISD congratulates all of the students who participated and earned awards in the second annual FBISD Film Fest, hosted by the Digital Learning Department. The event named 18 first-place winners in five categories (including Animation, Campus Challenge, Documentary, Narrative and 60-Second Short), as well as in the 48-Hour Challenge fall competition.
Join FBISD in Million Mile Month challenge, April 1-30


Each year, Fort Bend ISD participates in Million Mile Month, an online challenge that brings awareness to the importance of staying active to improve health and wellness. The challenge began April 1 as District employees started logging miles with their kick-off walk.

Community invited to FBISD Drug Take-Back, April 29

To provide the community with a safe way of disposing of unused or expired medication they may have in their homes, Fort Bend ISD is hosting a Drug Take-Back event on Saturday, April 29. The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the parking lot of Mercer Stadium (16403 Lexington Blvd., Sugar Land 77479). For more information, visit www.dea.gov.
