As a self-taught blacksmith, an acclaimed gardener, a WWI veteran, and a rancher, Jack H. Anderson was truly a "Jack of all trades." Still, many Dubois residents remember Jack for his musical inclinations. He played the accordion, the banjo, the guitar, wrote music, and had it published. Jack also played the harmonica, entertaining visitors late into the night with the haunting warble.

This 2-32 ECHO harmonica, which belonged to Jack, dates back to sometime between 1937 and 1939. The six-pointed star visible in the center, circular medallion held by two hands was a trademark of M. Hohner, a German musical instrument company. By 1939, the Nazi regime had made it clear that any association with traditionally Jewish symbols would result in persecution. Subsequently, Hohner dropped the six-pointed star from its design element."
