With a cast of 25 students, Grades 7-12, under the highly respected direction of Mrs. Jennifer Brooks, Director of Performing Arts at Faith Christian Academy, “Annie Junior” came to life recently on the stage of the Atlantic Recreational Center. Annie first appeared on the Broadway Stage in 1977 and later became a box office smash as a movie in 1982. On Friday evening and again on Saturday afternoon, the young actors at the Academy gave outstanding performances that brought the audiences to their feet with cheers of applause.

A smiling and rising star, Aaliyah Powers, who played the lead role in the spring production of Annie said, “it took a lot of work but it all paid off with our great performances.” Faith Christian Academy is a fully accredited Christian school that is celebrating 25 years of educational leadership in our great community. It is recognized with both the FLOCS and COGNIA Accreditations. Mrs. Brooks proudly indicated that the young thespians gave it their all. “They wanted their families and fellow students to know that performing arts is an enrichment program in our school’s curriculum as well as show appreciation to what Fernandina Beach is also recognized for.”

The young actors brought the fabled musical to life and connected with a very receptive audience. John Van Tomme, President of FCA’s Board of Trustees was beaming with an appreciation for the players when he emphatically said, “The Academy is pledged to teach the whole child; math, science, literature. Bible and of course the arts but most of all, it is always about giving praise to our Lord.” “Annie Junior’ was another shining example of how FCA raises up students to be God’s future leaders and achievers and yes, even actors!
