Las Vegas Unified Through Tragedy

On the evening of October 1st, a gunman rocked Las Vegas in a way that this country has never seen before at the Route 91 Country Music Festival.  Everyone was impacted by this senseless and evil tragedy.  58 lives were taken away and more than 500 people were injured.  In the midst of this horrible event, God was there for comfort and strength as the Las Vegas community came together in a way it never has before.  Blood banks were full and people waited for hours to donate.  Donations of food and water were overwhelming for the first responders and the families of the victims.  Most importantly, the community turned to prayer in a major way. "#PrayforVegas" was seen all over town and on social media for the entire world to see.  Above, FCA Director Rick Strasser holds a prayer vigil on the campus of UNLV with almost 100 coaches and athletes less than 12 hours after the shooting. "Prayer isn't where we should end up", stated Strasser, "we should begin there, follow through and end there."

WE CARE

UNLV FCA Athletes and FCA Las Vegas Director Rick Strasser pose for a picture with the Executive Staff from Mandalay Bay after delivering encouraging notes and "We Care" bags to the hotel staff after the tragedy of October 1. The UNLV FCA team wanted to use their feelings of shock and despair and turn it into an opportunity to use its influence to brighten the day the staff at Mandalay Bay, a forgotten group of individuals, who were impacted by the tragedy.

FCA Las Vegas
 Board of Directors Response

"Waking up on October 2 to the horrific news of the tragedy at the Vegas Village was difficult. We had been at the very location only seven days before at a different concert. My prayers and thoughts went out immediately to all those affected.   Out of the tragedy we have seen light rise from the darkness and good rise from evil. FCA, local churches and people from all over world are supporting the recovering process.
FCA is a ministry committed to sharing the good news of Jesus and the life saving grace He provides. It is free to all who receive Him. Jesus took my place on the cross and died for my sins.   How incredible is His love for us that He should do that for me and you!   FCA is growing strong in Las Vegas and we need more supporters to continue to share Jesus. We pray that God would bless you so you may bless others."
