FCASV Commends Sexual Assault Services
Sexual Assault Services at the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay is the certified rape crisis center for Hillsborough County. This means anyone age 13 or older in the county comes to the Crisis Center for a forensic medical exam/evidence collection after a sexual assault. Survivors are also able to receive advocacy services and can easily connect to additional Crisis Center, government, and community resources after the initial visit.
To be a certified rape crisis center in Florida, an organization must receive an evaluation and site visit from the Florida Council Against Sexual Violence (FCASV). The evaluation is extremely rigorous and is not limited to the Sexual Assault Services department. On the most recent site visit, FCASV also spent time in 2-1-1 and Corbett Trauma Center talking with staff and evaluating procedures.
The Crisis Center passed the evaluation with flying colors. At the end of its report, FCASV encouraged the Crisis Center to "continue with your excellent provision of services in your community."
