Guardianship Tracking System Online Workshops offered by AOPC - April, May, and June
Please see below for a brochure regarding the next round of GTS Guardian Workshops for court-appointed guardians. This series offers sessions in April, May, and June.

Guardians who participated in any of the prior workshop/webinar sessions will not need to attend since the material being presented is essentially the same.  This series is again being offered exclusively as ‘Online Workshops’. The online webinars have been very successful and convenient for the guardians since various dates and times are being offered to accommodate their schedules, and also travel is not required.

The guardians will need to register online so that the trainers can appropriately plan and staff the sessions based on the number expected to participate.

As some of you might know, I recently ran for re-election. What’s true for all candidates is true for me as well – all of my free time from February through May 16 was filled with campaigning. To be honest, some of my free time right now is still filled with campaign work. That meant I was very thankful that I didn’t have the obligation of writing an article for the Causeway in the middle of things. I’m thankful to all the Causeway contributors for their help in this regard. We’ve put together a great team of contributors who provide us with articles on varied topics, which is way better than reading stuff from me all the time. Anyway, back to the topic of the campaign.
There was something new in Franklin County this year. Something that didn’t exist during any prior campaign season. That new thing was a website called Franklinvotes.org. I think all voters and those interested in local politics may be interested to know about it. According to the website, Franklin Votes is a non-partisan initiative driven by volunteers to spread awareness of voter information and resources. Their aim is to increase voter turnout in Franklin County, Pennsylvania.
As a candidate, I can attest that the information on their website for each candidate is valid because it comes directly from the candidate. About mid-March or so, I received a letter in the mail from Franklin Votes. In the letter, they requested that I fill out a questionnaire and return it to them. They indicated that what I wrote in the questionnaire would be published on their website and that’s exactly what happened. Given that Franklin County doesn’t have the newspaper presence it used to have, there are fewer resources devoted to providing the public with information on local candidates. As attorneys, we are keenly aware of local politicians’ impact on our daily lives. We know the importance of learning about our candidates and their positions. Now we have a website that provides us with an easy way to help our family, friends, and neighbors become more informed.
Recently, I spoke with one of the founders of Franklin Votes, Amy Weibley, about the organization. This burgeoning volunteer organization is in need of more help. As a non-partisan organization, they are looking for volunteers from any political party as well as those who are non-affiliated. If you or someone you know might be interested in keeping this website alive, please visit Fraklinvotes.org, scroll to the bottom, and fill out the “contact” form.
