In This Issue

Can we ever truly imagine dying for everyone else's sake?
Every single wrong that all people have committed?
Let us not just simply repeat words in scripture,
but may WE LIVE  how God has instructed
by picking up our own cross & following Jesus.
Nothing easy is worth having.

Sermon Text: Psalm 23
Sermon Title: "All The Days Of My Life"
The Divine Shepherd
1 The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures;  he leads me beside still waters;
3 he restores my soul.  He leads me in right paths  for his name's sake.
4 Even though I walk through the darkest valley,  I fear no evil;  for you are with      me;  your rod and your staff -  they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me  in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil;  my cup overflows.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me  all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord  my whole life long.

YOUTH HAPPENINGS

Hello all and Happy March!

March is Women's History Month, so we will celebrate by learning about four women from the Bible whose perseverance, faith, generosity, and praise serve as guideposts for our lives today.

We are looking forward to the Blessing of the Animals and the Easter Egg Hunt on
April 11th at 10 am!

Peace,
Kaitlin
Easter is right around the corner

We will be hosting our 4th Easter Egg Hunt & Holiday Meal Feast!
Can you believe it!?

For the month of March, instead of our usual peanut butter and jelly donations, we would love for you to consider sponsoring holiday feast meals!
The meals serve between 10-12 individuals and are $32.00 each.
Look for donation envelopes in your bulletin and pews
You can also donate online via our webpage: www.newcommunion.org/donate
Crisis Control Ministry

My good friends!

Crisis Control Ministry is requesting for the month of March INSTANT GRITS.  Even though our weeks have warm days, I'm sure ol' man  Winter isn't through with us just yet.  Anything warm in the tummy starts the day off better and gives energy to last until lunch.  Be generous with your gift as we remember there are so many folks who depend on us. The big, white box awaits your gifts.

Obituary

John Alan Riefenberg September 30, 1931  ~  March 17, 2020  (age 88)
John Riefenberg was born in Omaha, Nebraska to Elmer and Cassie Riefenberg. He graduated with a Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin. John married Janette Meyer in Luling, Texas on the day of his graduation in 1961.
John dedicated over 35 years to serving others as a Clinical Social Worker. He worked at Family Services in Shreveport, LA, where he became President of the NASW chapter and helped integrate the chapter. He was Director of Family Services in Corpus Christi, Texas. He also worked at Child Guidance Clinics in Tulsa, Oklahoma. When he moved to Winston-Salem, NC he  became Head of the Social Work department with the Child Guidance Clinic and later worked for Family Services until his retirement. Upon his retirement, he and Janette moved to Charlotte to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
John was a member of the Rotary Club in Corpus Christi and Winston-Salem. He served as a Deacon and Elder at First Christian Church in Winston-Salem. He and Janette are currently members at SouthPark Christian Church in Charlotte.
John loved music, playing in the 90th Division Army Reserve Band and singing in the church choir for many years. He enjoyed stamp collecting, tennis, coaching his children's soccer and basketball teams, gardening, and being the family historian.
John deeply loved his wife, children, and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Janette; his son, Paul Riefenberg and (wife Terrie); his daughter Erica Donnalley and (husband Kevin); his grandchildren Kayla Donnalley, Thomas Donnalley and Matthew Donnalley; and his sister, Louise Naven of Austin, Texas.
To honor John's dedication to serving others, the family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to a charity of your choosing.
