11 Teach me your way, O
Lord,
that I may walk in your truth;
give me an undivided heart to revere your name.
12 I give thanks to you, O Lord my God, with my whole heart,
and I will glorify your name forever.
13 For great is your steadfast love toward me;
you have delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol.
14 O God, the insolent rise up against me;
a band of ruffians seeks my life,
and they do not set you before them.

The Call to Action for Racial Equity and Justice for All!
Christian Church in NC: A Resilient Church with Liberating Unity!
Goal: To be the effective witness that Christ empowered us to be in dismantling systemic racism, creating equity, and advocating for reconciliation. While we acknowledge those who have already begun conversations around systemic racism and justice, we want to encourage the 'next step' actions beyond conversations.
To aid in this quest for human liberation and justice, the Anti-Racism and
Pro-Reconciliation Commission (ARPR) will engage
the Christian Church
in NC as follows:
July
ARPR will work with District leaders to discern potential lead congregations to host conversations with other congregations.
During July, we will organize and set the date for the event, which might need to be a virtual event or free conference call in 2020. One ARPR member will schedule to be present at each gathering.
July 1 - August 1
ARPR will receive CCNC Reconciliation Grant applications. Churches may write grant proposals about a ministry initiative that prepares leadership for ministry that nurtures and promotes racial equity and moves the church beyond the current context.
The General Church Disciples Home Missions
Pro-Reconciliation/Anti- Racism Team has recently announced the Rev. Ernest J. Newborn, Sr. Legacy grant program. This grant program intends to provide seed funds for small racial reconciliation and anti-racism projects that address structural barriers for people of color to fully thrive in the communities where they live. Projects awarded by this program are short-term, achievable, and accountable to the communities the award will benefit. Applications beginning June 15, 2020 and ongoing through 2020.

July 25, 10 am - 11:30 & July 31, 7 pm - 8:30
ARPR invites members of all Disciples congregations to attend this Racial Equity Orientation. (The same introductory class is offered on two different days to meet the needs of the region.) This is a 90 minute conversational workshop led by skilled trainers to help individuals unpack and understand vocabulary. Justice, equality, equity, unity, uniformity, bigotry, racism-what do these words mean? The cost is free, but registration is required. Registration is open from June 29- July 19. Please watch your email for more information.
August 15 - December 31, 2020
1. ARPR awards Reconciliation Grants on August 15 and projects are underway through the remainder of the year. Congregations will share invitations for events and information about outcomes with the region.
2. ARPR anticipates and
welcomes the Historical Review of CC (DOC); COC, DOC; and
PDC in NC. The region's Historical Task Force offers opportunities for congregations to revisit our history because we have always been one Disciples movement under our one Lord serving God's people. While we might have walked parallel paths that often linked at various intersections, now our paths are merging. The historical review
will show us how much better we would be if we journey together.
October 4 - World Communion Sunday
ARPR hosts Regional Gathering for Justice and Love with Communion (whether physical or virtual) and signing Dismantling Racism document.
We will gather (virtually if necessary,
for COVID-19 concerns) reflecting our three-strands.
We want all expressions present- CC (DOC); COC, DOC; and PDC. We will invite the Regional Elders to be involved in helping with this World Communion Sunday.
What's Next, Church?
After the World Communion Service, ARPR will evaluate and determine what's next as the region continues the work of becoming one body of Christ.
This is a movement, not a moment!

Crisis Control Ministry
My Christian Friends!
Isn't it amazing how quickly the months pass when we are at home much of time?
Warm weather has arrived along with the higher
humidity. Some are taking trips to the mountains or the beach, trying to make life a little more like normal.
"Normal" for some folks is already here.
Their cupboards are empty or hold very little to feed the family. Children are home from school... They are always hungry from playing outside and getting that much needed exercise. Crisis Control Ministry is requesting PEANUT BUTTER & JELLY for their food gift this month.
Yes, these are the same items that our church furnishes New Communion. Please don't forget one and give to the other.
When you are at the grocery, how about buying twice the amount because PB & J is a staple food in every household whether it be creamy or crunchy, jelly or jam. Everybody likes to see it in their kitchen!
Please place it at the double doors'
entrance where our mailbox is on the covered sidewalk parallel with FCC's parking lot.

I don't know another church in our city that is as

Samaritan Ministries
The shelter has a year-round list of needs that
are always appreciated. They especially have shortages of men's deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste, razors, and socks.
Food items are canned meats and #10 size canned fruits, vegetables and
applesauce. Please drop your donations off under the shelter, next to FCC's
parking lot, at the set of double doors with a mailbox.
