Sermon Text: Romans 8:22-27 NRSV
Sermon Title: "Not Yet"
22 We know that the whole creation has been groaning
in labor pains until now;
23 and not only the creation, but we ourselves,
who have the first fruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly
while we wait for adoption,
the redemption of our bodies.

24 For in hope we were saved.
Now hope that is seen is not hope.
For who hopes for what is seen?

25 But if we hope for what we do not see,
we wait for it with patience.

26 Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness;
for we do not know how to pray as we ought,
but that very Spirit intercedes with sighs too deep for words.

27 And God, who searches the heart,
knows what is the mind of the Spirit
because the Spirit intercedes for the saints
according to the will of God.

Praise & Worship

Improvisation on "Come, Thou Almighty King"

Opening Hymn:
#27 "Come, Thou Almighty King"

1 Come, thou almighty King,
help us thy name to sing;
help us to praise:
one God, all-glorious,
o'er all victorious,
come and reign over us,
ancient of days.

2 Come, thou incarnate Word,
gird on thy mighty sword,
our prayer attend;
come, and thy people bless,
and give thy word success;
Spirit of holiness,
on us descend.

3 Come, holy Comforter,
thy sacred witness bear,
in this glad hour!
Thou, who almighty art,
now rule in every heart,
and ne'er from us depart,
Spirit of power.

4 To the great One in Three,
eternal praises be,
hence evermore!
Thy sovereign majesty,
may we in glory see,
and to eternity
love and adore.

Special Music:
#261 "Sweet, Sweet Spirit"

Closing Hymn:
#250 "O Breath of Life"

1 O Breath of Life, come sweeping through us,
revive your church with life and power.
O Breath of Life, come, cleanse, renew us,
And fit your church to meet this hour.

2 O Wind of God, come bend us, break us,
till humbly we confess our need.
Then in your tenderness remake us,
revive, restore, for this we plead.

3 O Breath of Love, come breathe within us,
renewing thought and will and heart.
Come, love of Christ, afresh to win us,
revive your church in every part.

"Praise God from Whom All Blessings Flow"
Please find the prayer list below,
and genuinely pray for ALL of God's creation.

"4 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world.
On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.
5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up
against the knowledge of God,
and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ."
2 Corinthians 10: 4-5

Church World Service Hygiene Kits
Last year FCC put together 33 hygiene kits and delivered them in August to Church World Service to be used to help families following natural disasters.
In the past year they distributed over 27,000 of these kits, most recently 2000 to Texas in response to damaging winter weather, and 1500 to Alabama after recent tornados. We have been asked to help replenish their supply again this year.
We already have on hand all the band-aids, combs and toothbrushes that we need.
Items that we do need contributed are as follows:
-One washcloth
-One bath size bar of soap in the original package
-One fingernail or toenail clipper removed from package (either is accepted)
-One hand towel measuring approximately 15”x28” to 16”x32”
(no fingertip, bath, dish towel, or micro-fiber)
We will be assembling these in gallon Ziploc bags on Saturday morning,
May 29th to be delivered to Church World Service the first week of June.
You can help by bringing any of the above items to the church during May,
or on the 29th, if you wish to help us assemble the kits.

Can we surpass last year’s total of 33?
Christian Action Ministry
Hi, Christian Friends!

Over the last several months, I have asked you to bring a designated food for sharing with the people that Crisis Control Ministry serves, who need extra food for their families. You have done an OUTSTANDING job. You might wonder if those served receive food stamps, which is now identified as the SNAP program (Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program.) A good number do receive this assistance. The key word in that program is “Nutritional” which means food
is the only item that can be purchased however all of us know paper products are very expensive and very important to our households.

The May request from Crisis Control Ministry is “TOILET PAPER.”
I ask that you continue to serve the residents of Forsyth County, who are in need, and purchase TOILET PAPER when at your grocer.
Anything we do in service to others is truly blessed.

Help is always needed spiritually, physically and verbally.

The shelter has a year-round
list of needs that are always appreciated!

They're especially short on men's deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste, razors & socks. Food items: canned meats, #10-size canned fruits/vegetables & applesauce.

Please sit your donations under the shelter, next to FCC's parking lot,
at the set of double doors with a mailbox.
