Sermon Text: Mark 3:20-25 NRSV
Sermon Title: "Viewpoint"
20 and the crowd came together again, so that they could not even eat.
21 When his family heard it, they went out to restrain him, for people were saying, “He has gone out of his mind.” 22 And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem said, “He has Beelzebul, and by the ruler of the demons he casts out demons.” 23 And he called them to him, and spoke to them in parables, “How can Satan cast out Satan? 24 If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. 25 And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand.

Praise & Worship

Prelude: "Praise to the Lord, the Almighty"  arr. by David Lowe

Opening Hymn: #25 "Praise to the Lord, the Almighty" vs. 1,2,3
1 Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, who rules all creation.
O my soul, worship the wellspring of health and salvation.
All ye who hear,
now to God's temple draw near.
Join me in in glad adoration.

2 Praise to the Lord, who o'er all things so wondrously reigneth,
who, as on wings of an eagle uplifted, sustaineth.
Hast thou not seen?
All that is needful hath been
granted in what God ordaineth?

3 Praise to the Lord, who doth prosper thy work, and defend thee.
Surely God's goodness and mercy here daily attend thee.
Ponder anew
what the Almighty can do,
who with great love doth befriend thee.

Special Music: "As the Deer"
As the deer panteth for the water, so my soul longeth after You.
You alone are my heart's desire, and I long to worship You.
You alone are my strength, my shield; to You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my heart's desire, and I long to worship You.

You're my Friend and You are my Brother even though You are a King.
I love You more than any other, so much more than anything.
You alone are my strength, my shield; to You alone may my spirit yield.
You alone are my heart's desire, and I long to worship You.

Close: #486 "Who is my mother, who is my brother"

1 Who is my mother,
who is my brother?
All those who gather
round Jesus Christ:
Spirit-blown people
born from the gospel
sit at the table,
round Jesus Christ.

2 Differently abled,
differently labeled
widen the circle
round Jesus Christ,
crutches and stigmas,
culture's enigmas,
all come together
round Jesus Christ.

3 Love will relate us --
color or status
can't segregate us,
round Jesus Christ:
family failings,
human derailings --
all are accepted,
round Jesus Christ.

4 Bound by one vision,
met for one mission
we claim each other,
round Jesus Christ:
here is my mother,
here is my brother,
kindred in Spirit,
through Jesus Christ.

Postlude: "Rigaudon" by David Larsky
Please find the prayer list below,
and let's genuinely pray for ALL of God's creation.

PRAYER HAS DIVINE POWER TO DEMOLISH STRONGHOLDS.

"4 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world.
On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.
5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up
against the knowledge of God,
and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ."

Christian Action Ministry

Hi, good folks!

We are almost halfway into 2021 with the month of June beginning very soon.
I have always liked June. Our days are filled with making plans for vacation, tending gardens, admiring flowers and visiting friends and family.
I like to think of these things as being good for us in so many ways.
The Covid-19 virus is much more under control and we are free to go along as we please, safely. We avoided the long gas lines (some of us from the 80’s remember) during the gasoline shortage for which we are very grateful.

As you see, life goes on pretty much like it always has plus those surprises we meet along the way. One thing that still remains is hunger in Winston-Salem and Forsyth County and that is not a good thing.  Many people deal with hunger every day no matter what. This month Crisis Control Ministry is asking for CANNED MEATS OF ANY KIND SUCH AS BEEF, SPAM, TUNA OR SALMON.
These items can help complete a meal.  If you have visited your favorite grocer recently, you will notice prices are higher and it doesn’t stop there.
We pay more for most of the things we depend on every day.

Please folks, the people that Crisis Control Ministry serves need your help.
What you and others give stretches food dollars.  I’ve always thought--you don’t miss what you give away--so be as generous as you can. Hopefully, we will be opening First Christian Church completely very soon and the large, white box in the Administration Hallway will be available to you. God’s blessings!

Anything we do in service to others is truly blessed.

Crafters Take Note

First Christian Church is going to have a craft fair again this year after taking a year off because of Covid last year. The FCC Craft Fair will be October 16th.

The booth size will again be 9ft. x 9ft. and the cost of a space is $35.
There will be 6 and 8 foot tables available to rent for $5 each if needed.

There will be both inside and outside spaces.
The inside spaces are on a first come first serve basis, so if you are interested in participating and want an inside space you need to be applying.
If you need more information and/or an application contact Judy Gillespie.
Start crafting and be a part of this fun day!

The shelter has a year-round
list of needs that are always appreciated!

They're especially short on men's deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste, razors & socks. Food items: canned meats, #10-size canned fruits/vegetables & applesauce.

Please sit your donations under the shelter, next to FCC's parking lot,
at the set of double doors with a mailbox.

Proverbs 31:8-9
Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves,
for the rights of all who are destitute.

Speak up and judge fairly;
defend the rights of the poor and needy.
