Sermon Text: Romans 16:25-27 NRSV
Sermon Title: "Gospel of Love"
25 Now to God who is able to strengthen you according to my gospel and the proclamation of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery that was kept secret for long ages 26 but is now disclosed, and through the prophetic writings is made known to all the Gentiles, according to the command of the eternal God, to bring about the obedience of faith— 27 to the only wise God, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever! Amen.
Praise & Worship

Prelude        Away in a Manger arr. by Debra Stempien/Gregory Turne
Niles Loughlin, clarinet and Alicia Reid, soprano

Opening       # 136, vs.1+4 Christians All, Our Lord is Coming
1 Christians all, your Lord is coming,
drawing near in holy birth.

Ring the bells and sound the trumpets
Let your music fill the earth.

Dance and move to show God’s glory;
kneel and pause to hear God’s word.

Alleluia! Alleluia!
Rise and let your songs be heard.

4 Christian all, your Lord is coming,
hope for peace is now at hand.
Let there be no hesitation,
walk in faith where life demands.

Bear the word that God has given;
share the birth that stirs your soul.

Alleluia! Alleluia!
Christ will come and make you whole.

Candle Song   # 128, vs.4 One Candle Light is Lit
4 Come, wander where lion and lamb gently play,
Where evil is banished and faith takes the day,
A babe in a manger to fool the world’s eyes.
One candle is lit for God’s loving surprise.

Special Music   Night of Silence by Daniel Kantor
Niles Loughlin, clarinet and Alicia Reid, soprano

Closing        # 142, vs.1+4 People, Look East
1 People, look east,
the time is near of the crowing of the year.

Make your house fair as you are able,
trim the hearth and set the table.

  People, look east:
Love, the Guest is on the way.

4 Angels announce with shouts of mirth
him who brings new life to earth.

Set every peak and valley humming with the word,
  The Lord is coming.

  People look east:
Love, the Lord is on the way.

Postlude       Good Tidings of Great Joy  by J.S.Bach
Please find the prayer list below, and sincerely pray for ALL of God's creation.
Prayer has divine power to demolish strongholds.

4 "The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world.
On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.
5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up
against the knowledge of God,
and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ."
2 Corinthians 10: 4-5
First Christian Family,

With thankful hearts, we welcome December! Our regular distributions will pause, as we gear up for our holiday meal distribution events. During this pandemic we have witnessed the staggering effects of hunger in our communities. This year, more than any in years past, we have a tremendous opportunity to continue to support our neighbors via our holiday
meal distributions!

Mark your calendars for December 19th.
This will be our final community event of the year!
If you would like to volunteer, please contact Pastor David or Paul! If you would like to give donations towards the feast meal or towards the Christmas toy drive, look for our donation envelopes on the welcome table in the lobby or visit our website and click the donate tab!

We continue to be grateful for all of your support and prayers! Please continue to bring your peanut butter and jelly. Share this good news of the gospel with your friends and coworkers. As we continue to put faith in action, through the practice of shared abundance, with our neighbors in Winston Salem!

Help is always needed! Spiritually, physically and verbally.

Peace and continued shared abundance,
Rev. David Harrison Jr. and Paul Gillespie
 #sharedabundance #hungersucks

A special word of thanks to all of our volunteers!
Without you, none of this would be possible!

If you would like to volunteer please contact us for more information.

Crisis Control Ministry
Good morning, my friends!

What did you have for breakfast this morning?
I had a bowl of oatmeal with fresh blueberries and orange juice. This is an almost every day occurrence for me. It is a hearty breakfast and should keep my tummy happy until lunch. However, sometimes it just doesn't. When I go looking in my cupboard, I usually find Crisis Control Ministry’s food request for December and that is SALTINE CRACKERS. This cracker usually helps. It’s interesting when you think of how often we might turn to that simple food. Have you ever tried a “cheese and cracker” or Extra Crunchy Jiff on a cracker”? What about adding that cracker to a bowl of hot tomato soup?  Those things certainly appeal to me.

I wondered why SALTINE CRACKERS was the requested item this month, but when I thought about it, I knew. It can do many things just as a snack or a filling part of a meal. Commercials tell us how many people in our home county is in need of food. We sometimes hear it so often, and we are so busy, that we don’t think about it. Folks, it is real and something as simple and good as a SATINE CRACKER can go a long way. When at your local grocery, pick up several boxes of SALTINE CRACKERS and put them in your cart.

You will notice I have put SALTINE CRACKERS in bold type in hope this will inspire you to go to your cupboard, try a SALTINE CRACKER and remember all those folks who might not find a SALTINE CRACKER.

As always, you will be richly blessed for generosity.
Merry Christmas to all of you!
