Sermon Text: Psalm 116:1-9
Sermon Title: "Tell It"
I love the Lord, because he has heard
  my voice and my supplications.
2 Because he inclined his ear to me,
  therefore I will call on him as long as I live.
3 The snares of death encompassed me;
  the pangs of Sheol laid hold on me;
  I suffered distress and anguish.
4 Then I called on the name of the Lord:
  “O Lord, I pray, save my life!”

5 Gracious is the Lord, and righteous;
  our God is merciful.
6 The Lord protects the simple;
  when I was brought low, he saved me.
7 Return, O my soul, to your rest,
  for the Lord has dealt bountifully with you.

8 For you have delivered my soul from death,
  my eyes from tears,
  my feet from stumbling.
9 I walk before the Lord
  in the land of the living.

Praise & Worship

Prelude: "All Glory be to God on High" by Andreas Armsdorff

Opening Hymn: "This Is The Day" #286

This is the day, this is the day
that the Lord has made,
that the Lord has made;
we will rejoice,
we will rejoice and be glad in it,
and be glad in it.

This is the day that the Lord has made;
we will rejoice and be glad in it.
This is the day,
this is the day that the Lord has made.

Special Music: "Take My Life (Holiness)"

Closing Hymn: "O, How I Love Jesus" #99 v1-3

1 There is a name I love to hear,
I love to speak its worth;
it sounds like music in my ear,
the sweetest name on earth.

O, how I love Jesus,
O, how I love Jesus,
O, how I love Jesus,
because he first loved me!

2 It tells me of a Savior's love,
who died to set me free;
it tells me of his precious blood,
the sinner's perfect plea. (Refrain)

3 It tells of one whose loving heart
can feel my deepest woe,
who in my sorrow bears a part
that none can bear below. (Refrain)

Postlude: "O, How I Love Jesus"

Praise and Worship Leaders: Alicia Reid, Dee Dee Burnett and Regina Pozzi

The shelter has a year-round
list of needs that are always appreciated!

They're especially short on men's deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste, razors & socks. Food items: canned meats, #10-size canned fruits/vegetables & applesauce.

Please sit your donations under the shelter, next to FCC's parking lot,
at the set of double doors with a mailbox.

Proverbs 31:8-9
Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves,
for the rights of all who are destitute.
Speak up and judge fairly;
defend the rights of the poor and needy.

Christian Action Ministry

Hello Fellow Christians!

Crisis Control Ministry has listed PASTA as the food they would like to see more on their pantry shelf during the month of September. Why do they list PASTA? The food group lists it as a carbohydrate that is nutritional and helps supply the body with warmth, strength and energy. There are so many different types of PASTA and it can be used in ways as part of a meal or the meal itself. It is one of those foods that can serve a whole family at a rather small cost. These are part of the reasons that Crisis Control Ministry chose PASTA for this month. Now you can choose, the next time you are in the PASTA aisle in your favorite grocery store, one of these staples and help fill that shelf in the Ministry’s pantry for sharing. I would suggest choosing one that is in a box to help against breakage. There is a commercial on television these days showing two small girls eating and enjoying a candy bar. One of the questions asked between the two is “who likes to share the most?” There is a slight hesitation and one of the little girls quickly chooses the last piece of candy in the dish and gives it to her friend. This is the way I see First Christian Church—always willing to share. Thank you, First Christian!
