President's Message
“It always seems impossible until it’s done”
-Nelson Mandela

Congratulations - you did it! You have made it through one of the most difficult school years in recent memory. And you did it with grace, courage, and perseverance. Thank you. You have moved mountains to keep your community together, to help children continue to achieve their potential within the scope of this pandemic and its challenges.

It is now time for us to look forward and to begin planning for the 2021-2022 school year. Maybe it is time for us to switch our focus just a bit. What will your community need this year? Have you asked them? PTA Goals don’t always need money or fundraising activities tied to them. Does your community need rebuilding? Do they need trust repaired? Do they require support and programming that allows children and their families to connect? Do they need you to speak up for them? Sometimes we need to raise our voices, not money.

Continue the discussion above by joining Virginia PTA for various training opportunities this summer, including both President and Treasurer this Saturday, June 12! If you attend the President's training, I look forward to seeing you there! Until then, happy summer :)

Stay safe and be well,
Kara

Make Your Voice Heard
Make your voice heard. What worked during this past year as FCPS responded to the COVID-19 pandemic? What didn't work? And what about the FCCPTA?

Help us all learn from this last year by filling out the FCCPTA Covid-19 Perspectives Survey at surveymonkey.com/r/FCCPTA-COVID19
Financial Fitness
Financial Fitness from the Treasurer
As we wind down the school year, we wanted to remind everyone of the following end-of-year deadlines:

  1. FCCPTA dues are due to the FCCPTA on June 30 for any members your PTA added since December, or if you did not pay dues in December. You can pay online through MemberHub or download our dues remittance form and mail it to the FCCPTA (our mailing address is on the form). Additional information on dues submission is located on the FCCPTA website
  2. Dues for Virginia PTA are due on June 1, 2021. You can pay your dues through MemberHub or via mail. If paying by mail, please download the dues remittance form
  3. This is the finance season--time to set financial review committees and file your 990s. Remember if you are in an election year, it is the new Board who runs these processes.
  4. Once elections are over, please remember to update your officers with the VA PTA. You can do this through MemberHub or on the VA PTA website
  5. Make sure your insurance is active-- is it time to renew? If so, do so.

FCCPTA will host a Roundtable on July 8, 2021, at 7pm to discuss financial matters for the end of the year (financial reviews, 990s, getting new Treasurers ready) and how to begin budgeting now for your new school year. This roundtable will be most helpful for Treasurers and Presidents, but all executive board members have a fiduciary responsibility and are encouraged to join us. Be on the lookout for more information on how to join us.

Please remember, Treasurers, we want to hear from you. If you have questions or need assistance on financial matters, contact Jaime Yarussi, FCCPTA Treasurer at treasurer@fccpta.org
Spelling Bee 2021-22
